U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Absolutely ; this situation is so fluid and dynamic it boggles the mind I have wore myself out in this quest and have got to slow down at a time we need to speed up. Rotating shifts are needed!

What is really galling about this situation is the fact that we could once have dismissed such a story as this as a lie. Now we have to at least entertain the notion that our government is back-stabbing citizens who are doing what they [elected officials] refuse to do. To me it just underscores the knowledge that there is no one on earth we can trust to protect us. It is one more sad day in a chain of many since 9/11.

For those who believe that "they" are trying to destroy America, this is a tailor-made confirmation.

Common sense says otherwise.

I don't know anything about a "set up" post - as I said, I don't have access to the Presidential Daily Briefing, so I'm sorry you you think you "need" - as for "MSM" you do realize the question was asked in Spanish, right?

Maybe it was the same group that shot and killed the illegal alien crossing the border over last weekend?

Well Ranch Rescue and American Border Patrol are 2 just off the top of my head. Both of those ARE vigilante outfits.

Yes, this issue was definitely important to me before the MM. The problem is that neither the Democrat nor the Republican politicians have ever wanted to stop illegal immigration. They needed prodding by the citizens, who, unfortunately, were asleep at the switch. The MM woke some of them up out of their stupor -- at least enough of them to get Congress talking about the issue.

To what, pray tell, do YOU attribute the House coming up with HR 4437 when they have been ignoring the issue for years?

Were they in the news at the same time as the Crawford summit last year? All I heard, both in the MSM and here was about the MMP.

I wonder if there are even any FR threads dealing with any other groups at that time? I'll have to take a look.

That was probably La Raza trying to keep him from horning in on their drug routes.

You really think it is more likely that La Raza killed one of their own than some vigilante U.S. citizen?

I am not sure of intent, the only outcomes I see are ultimately bad for the common American. The common American is not a CEO, does not derive his income from stock benefits, and feels it when his wages stagnate while the price of vital things go up.

The elites are is such rarefied air that no matter what happens to the common American or th US they can just take their money and go elsewhere, literally none the worse for the wear. So it could be don't know, don't care, or willfull intent.

We need to look at this carefully other civilizations that have had elites start getting into a position where they wouldn't be affected has had bad things happen.

It’s 5:00 AM here in south-central Pennsylvania.

Several years ago, when we found ourselves in the throes of the obscenity known as the second term of the Clinton administration, I found myself obsessing with the atrocities being perpetrated on the sovereignty of our republic and the safety of its citizens … obsessing to the point at which my concern interfered with my own everyday responsibilities and, sometimes, with my ability to obtain a good night’s sleep.

It was then that I stepped back and took stock, realizing just how little power to institute change we individual Americans have these days, as a result of the unprecedented power of the mass media (despite the dent in their omnipotence that the internet has provided), technological progress, laws that have been passed (CFR chief among them) whose major focus is to silence the voice of the individual in the political process, the incredible power of special interest groups, and the general unconstitutional over-reaching power that the state now has in all of our lives and liberties.

It was then that I also recalled, and reflected upon, the words of the serenity prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next

. … and then decided to attempt to re-shift my focus from frustration and anger with those in power who are virtually ‘beyond arm’s length’ from me, and, instead, speak and work, for the most part, within my own circle of family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers … and, where possible, beyond that, through the power of the written word.

As a result, I have spent the past approximately eight years sleeping better and knowing a renewed peace of mind.

Until now.

In some very disturbing ways, the state of our republic is even worse off than it was back in the late nineties. Back then, despite the overt anti-liberty, anti-sovereignty crimes and treasons committed or condoned by so many in power in Washington, there was always a major group of republican/independent leaders and lawmakers who were decrying the duplicity and decay. They were voicing outrage and concern, and seeking the eventual power to administer an antidote to negate the toxic effects of the Clinton administration’s crimes. Whether consciously or not, we conservatives clung to the hope that they would someday … and sooner rather than later … be successful.

In 2000 the clouds appeared to disperse, and the sun shone on our republic once again.

Fast forward six years and we conservatives are once again outraged by the behaviors of our leadership in Washington. Yet this time (at least in name only) that leadership is our own. So to whom, now, do we turn for the hope that springs from knowing that there are large numbers of people of like mind and purpose in our national government who are just as outraged as we?

Our southern border is being left open and vulnerable, and foreigners are streaming into our country as a result … arrogantly demanding rights without responsibilities, staking out illegitimate claims to our homeland, looking at two-plus centuries of success and prosperity, built on the blood and sweat of those who came here with a respect for our laws and a willingness to shed their blood, and work from dawn to dusk … and the invaders are scheming to steal those hard-won successes and rewards, and to bring this republic to her knees in the process.

And our leadership in Washington remains relatively oblivious. Rather than look the evil in the eye, they are consumed with posturing, preening, preparing for the next election, spending what they don’t have, exhorting us to dig deeper into our pockets for the ‘greater good’, and daily authoring and promoting their latest innovative blueprints for cradle-to-grave socialism.

I used to believe that the fact that our leadership in Washington would turn a blind eye to such a monumental threat to our liberty and sovereignty as the malignancy known as illegal immigration was the result of either incompetence or naiveté.

What has me (and I suspect many of you, occasionally or regularly) once again losing sleep over the state of our republic is the hideous realization that incompetence and naiveté no longer provide a rational explanation for our leadership’s inaction … even enabling … of the border travesty.

It appears that the allegiance of much of American leadership at the highest levels rests in something other than the sovereignty of our republic and the safety of her people. Whether that alternative allegiance lies in a belief that the importance of illegals to the (mirage) robust American economy supersedes any threat to our sovereignty that their criminality poses …. or a belief that a world without borders is preferable to one in which each nation’s sovereignty is sacrosanct … is unclear.

But what is becoming abundantly clear is that America’s sovereignty is now under relentless attack from both within and without her borders. Thanks to politicians (both republican and democrat) without character or conscience, obsessively focused on cheap labor and more votes (read: the amassing of personal and ideological power), or openly advocating a globalist world order … and thanks, also, to media that hold in disdain the America that once was, working hand-in-hand with racist pressure groups … our republic sits on the brink of a terrible abyss from which, for the first time in our history, only the American citizen can pull her back.

God bless (and we must support) the Minutemen. These modern American patriots, and the potential influence they may have on the rest of the citizenry, embody the hope of our republic … our leadership having betrayed us by purposefully abdicating that role.

Yet this time (at least in name only) that leadership is our own. So to whom, now, do we turn for the hope that springs from knowing that there are large numbers of people of like mind and purpose in our national government who are just as outraged as we?

The sting is much deeper when it comes from those whom you trusted & expected to do better. We though are the overlords of our government and must take responsibility for it. We a free people have the authority to hire and fire our leaders at election time. We have lost site of the fact they work for us. They take that fact for granted.

Right now the anger of many in this nation is running deep. Persons like carpenters are seeing their standard of living being lowered. I posted this the other night. It wasn't so long ago in America even a ditch digger with a pick and shovel could provide a living for his family on one income. That day is gone right now.

There is a division and it is deep between the working people blue collar who depend on their labor skills to live on and ones who live by investments in stocks, are high on corporate ladders, and reap the benefits of cheap foreign labor legal and illegal at the expense of their neighbors.

We have good high skilled Americans in Engineering fields and the Electronics/Computer Technology related fields being displaced either by outsourcing or imported workers. To them this is a real and serious issue also. Corporate bottom dollars have taken over the leadership of our nation. It is true in many areas including Health Care which as best as I can tell is also being purposely destroyed for National Health Care to be overseen by large corporate interest.

There are conspiracy and there are conspiracy theories. When it's your neighbor being affected it is conspiracy theory and he's over reacting. When it's you however being on the losing end you see the conspiracy more clearly. Much of this is conspiracy. It is a deliberate effort being made by globalist to put this nation into at the least a hemispheric government and economy and at the most One World Government. Those of us who are Christians were warned this was to happen.

I don't believe there has been a deeper distrust in our nations leadership in nearly 150 years going back to the pre-Civil War. Even the Great Depression people relied on God, Self, & the moral character of their neighbor and those whom we elected to do what was right for the good of the nation.

Individuals who either by adversity or by sheer anger and outrage have forged much of the good that came in the form of the founding of our nation. They were not a majority and many would believe. Many were perfectly content to live under tyranny of the crown because of their secure personal positions with the crown or out and out fear. Thankfully however enough were not that content.

The signers of the Documents gave their word Their Sacred Honor to stand against the tyranny of the day. Most lost all they had. Some of them as well who didn't sign lost personal fortunes and are some of the biggest traditional investment names we know today.

I don't think anyone is asking anyone in here to pick up arms and take over a nation. There simply is no need for it especially at this point in time. The most effective weapon we have besides our weapons we have in our home is our voice and our vote. The framers gave us that to carry on their name and that Sacred Honor.

It's disheartening to see fear of political parties being used by career politicians to literally scare voters into being enablers to their wrongs simply because their wrongs are lesser wrongs than the other mans So They Say.

There is nothing that gets this old Tennessee Hillbilly's back up quicker than to be threatened by fear or intimidation by someone to let them walk all over me or mine. I don't care if it's a political party or a Labor Union doing it as the original Minutemen of this nation stated "Don't Tread On Me".

One poster whom I thought was wise enough to know better has called the Minutemen a joke. Calling them such calls the ones who founded this nation such as well.

Yes we are a nation of many with room for plenty. Tell me posters does your own home no matter how large it is not have a limit to the number of persons who can live in it? Is their not a limit to the number of mouths you can feed and persons you can provide for? What do you do when uninvited guest or even invited ones start eating you out of house and home and run up bills so extreme that your children will be paying the debt? What do you do?

We are forgetting something these are not an oppressed people except for their complete lack of will to stand against the corruption and tyranny of their own homeland. They do live in a nation free enough to vote their own future. As such we owe them nothing especially not at the expense of our children and grandchildren future. That is not ours to give away! It is not morally right to enslave them by doing this to our nation.

To the Minutemen I say Thank You. To ones like Travis McGee who sound the alarm to some very real possibilities I say Thank You. To those who wish to enable tyrants from both parties to continue us on this present destructive course due to your greedy personal gains on the stock market to you I say you have my utmost contempt.

This nation has a congress problem. It must be brought back to Constitutional Order. That means sacrifice. It means judging individuals based on their merit and what they say and do rather than their party membership as being fit for the HONOR to serve in our congress.

We have an elective system to bring change. I want to remind people that the GOP was born of division of a previous party. It took less than 7 years to have a sitting POTUS in office. It was born of Dems, Whigs, and several Third Parties and it is called the GOP. It can be replaced in the manner in which it came to be. No one holding public office nor any party is entitled to their position it must like trust be earned. Much trust in todays political parties has been betrayed and so far only a hand full are willing within them to stand up and say what is right. Those unfortunately usually face the ridicule of both party and some who are so blind they can't see beyond a very warped political party loyalty. It's our nation to keep or loose and time is growing short on that matter.

I likely have a lesser formal education than many in here. My knowledge of government came from high school in a community that Political Correctness had not yet destroyed. I understand how it is supposed to work and I understand how it is with prejudice by many of our elected being destroyed. I don't fear DEMs and I don't fear Republicans. They put their pants on and breath GOD's air the same as me. I however loathe the tyrants from both of the parties who have led our nation to this point. I will not join ones wishing to help them continue it either. To those you will NEVER receive my vote again. I do not vote on fear or intimidation so don't go there. I refuse with all my being to vote for more of the same. When enough persons get angry enough to do no less change will come and a government restored.

I hear you about losing sleep! At least our borders are not "completely" open and vulnerable - there's been a 66% increase in funding to the Border Patrol since 9/11 with more on the way - did you know that over 6 million illegal aliens have been expelled from the U.S. since Bush took office? As the owner of this site, Jim Robinson, recently told Lurker on the thread "The game has not changed, we face the same enemy, same challenges. The Beast never dies!":

"There's no alternative. I'll take my chances with Bush and the Republicans. I know exactly what kind of judges Clinton (or any other Democrat) will appoint. No thank you sir."
