Cheney should have been President. We would be getting real results for America now, IMHO

I dunno, he's probably the most powerful VP ever, and he's the spearhead for the WH dealings with Congress--he has an office in the Capitol, I believe.

One of the reasons Bush hasn't vetoed anything is because of Cheney's negotiations before bills go to the vote.

I think Cheney's great but he's greatly responsible for the way this Administration is.

The administration knows that they're spinning, of course. It hardly matters. There is nothing that can be done about the destruction of Western civilization through immigration and the destruction of the traditional family.

Why? The simple fact is that the entire Western world needs workers. We don't have enough. Why? Because we have accepted the Nanny State as necessary, because we have accepted the socialist paradigm for human sexuality and the role of the family, and because our low self-interest demands that we suffer as little as possible in our old age.

Immigration is simply something that has to occur in the Western world as it currently is. The Left can't wait for the demographic implosion. The Right tilts at windmills to try to remain in power.

Your comments are clear minded as ever.

I'm willing to give this administration, this administration that is the first in my life time willing to tackle the issue head on, the benefit of working towards a solution.

Ah, yes, but I forget, Rome WAS built in a day.

They both can be correct; 12 million are here, 6 million sent back

Cheney didn't have much to say about the bills in the Senate - which are awful. And as for a fence - I'm waiting to see one built. I think I'm going to have a long wait, except for a few small stretches suitable for photography.

"We've got some 11 or 12 million illegals in the country. It is a national security problem. It's also an economic problem. If you could round all those folks up tomorrow and put them back over the border, you'd have a big hole in your workforce."

Ya, a hole in our workforce that would quickly be filled by legal Americans.

These people must think we're idiot's!

I want the employers of these illegals to build the fence, and pay for it, too!!

And wear an orange jumpsuit while doing it!

So which quote of yours is the truth, Mr Vice President? It can't be both.

Of course it can be both. It not only can be, but is. Illegals have been pouring into this country ever since President Reagan signed the 1986 immigration reform act which provided the first, and so far only, true amnesty to illegal aliens.

The Border Patrol apprehends on average around 1.1 million illegals a year -- actually not necessarily 1.1 million individuals since some of them are captured more than once trying to cross. The 1.1 million is a percentage of the total. The ones that made it in comprise the estimated 11-12 million now in the country.

Bush is on record as putting men on the border.

The President promised 2000 new agents per year for the next five years, yet his budget actually only funds just over 200. This is simply unacceptable.

From the President himself and his spokepeople.

From the president stating there would not militarize the border.

From the fact they've stated the Guard will be there to observe and essentially listed the duties the Minutemen already perform.

As far as the "Observations", the observations concerned what people who want a secure border desired. I think as a person who demanded action on this, I am qualified to state that "observation" is not what we desired.

We desired the borders fenced/walled from left to right, and right to left. Not pieces of structure. We demanded that talk of amnesty/guest worker be stalled until they secured the border. Not passed in conjunction with their lame carrots ensuring its unlikely our borders will be secured anymore than they were fom the last legislation two decades ago. We wanted strict eomployer sanctions enforced, we've nothing to suggest that'll occur. If they were serious they'd have done it by now with the laws on the book. So, no, it is WRONG to state we got what we wanted.

200, huh?

Bush and his band of fools should understand that, unlike the Left, we aren't a bunch of drooling morons who will believe anything.

In fact, we tend to view this particular brand of paternalistic nonsense as being fit for slaves and lackeys.

There is nothing "comprehensive" about any of this. But what can be done? We need workers. Millions of them. Between the Sexual Revolution and the glorious Nanny State, we have nowhere to go.

I found this ironic quote on that site:

"The simple truth is that we've lost control of our own borders, and no Nation can do that and survive. We ignore America's lost sovereignty at our own peril." Ronald Reagan

Bush supports 2,000 more border agents per year. When it comes to appropriating money for those positions, he supports funding 200 of them, not 2,000.
