Campaign Highlights Inconsistencies Between Record and Rhetoric
WASHINGTON, June 14 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Team America PAC has launched a radio campaign in Salt Lake City, Utah. The purpose of the campaign is to make Republican Primary voters aware of Representative Chris Cannon's support for illegal alien amnesties and other benefits for illegal aliens even though he represents his record as having been tough on illegal immigration.
On his website, Congressman Cannon claims he's never supported amnesty for illegal aliens and never will. In fact, Cannon has not only supported nine amnesties for illegal aliens, he's actually co-sponsored six amnesties himself. Cannon claims to be tough on illegal immigration yet he's co-sponsored two bills that would reward illegal aliens with in-state tuition. He's voted multiple times against aiding police officers in the apprehension of illegal aliens. Cannon is currently co-sponsoring a bill that protects illegal aliens from prosecution for social security fraud.
Team America' Chairman, Bay Buchanan commented, "Chris Cannon is one of the most pro amnesty congressman in Washington. It is certainly understandable why he would choose to hide his atrocious record on amnesty from his constituents but that in no way justifies the hypocrisy associated with doing so. Utah voters have a right to know if their congressman is deliberately deceiving them, especially on an issue as critical to the nation as illegal immigration."
Team America PAC launched the ad campaign earlier this week in the Salt Lake City market. The radio spots use humor to expose Cannon's claim of being tough on immigration. Throughout the spot the announcer repeatedly asks, "Chris Cannon tough on immigration?" followed by the announcer's description of Chris Cannon's support for an immigration bill that's completely out of synch with most American's views. Over the top crowd laughter then ensues. The radio spot concludes by asking GOP Primary voters to support Cannon's Primary opponent John Jacob "to begin cleaning up the immigration mess Chris Cannon helped make."
Looks like royal wannabe tom tancredo was not amused at Mike Pence's common sense approach.
Tepid.
And Sensenbrener may have put together good legislation with HR 4437, but his overall record on immigration issues is questionable. Some of his recent votes and sponsorships demonstrate this:
2005-2006: Cosponsoring H.R. 3402 that contains provisions to reward illegal aliens with amnesty Rep. Sensenbrenner is a cosponsor of H.R. 3402. Title IX of H.R. 3402 loosens the rules governing visas for victims of trafficking and domestic violence and their families and would reward certain illegal aliens with amnesty.
2005-2006: Cosponsoring H.R. 3402 that contains provision to increase chain migration Rep. Sensenbrenner is a cosponsor of H.R. 3402. Title IX of H.R. 3402 loosens the rules governing visas for victims of trafficking and domestic violence and their families, resulting in an increase in chain migration.
According to Americans for Better Immigration (an organization which supports immigration law enforcement and border security) he ranks 51st among House Republicans on the immigration issue. He gets kudos for HR 4437, but not much else.
Further, his conservative ratings from various conservative organizations are even more lackluster than Cannon's and certainly nowhere near as good as Rep. Tancredo's ratings.
An endorsement from Rep. Sensenbrenner, especially a tpid one, is not all that valuable.
I am relatively undecided on this Cannon thing but your defense of him in the face of massive evidence that he is pro-amnesty has been to repeat "Sensenbrenner has endorsed him" 20 times in a row. So what? Incumbent ongresscritters will have each others back even if they disagree on everything (See: Specter/Santorum). This proves nothing.
If you can address the actual substance of their attacks -- the amnesty bills he has voted for or sponsored -- it might be a bit more convincing.

Actually it wasn't 20 times in a row, but Sensenbrenner's words say a lot.
Look we can't do a Vulcan mind meld 24/7 with every Congresscritter, but have to rely on the words of people who actually work in Congress.
I;ll trust Sensenbrenner's opinion than the tancredo/bay buchanan opinion any day of the week.
Whether or not she assisted with conservative Pat Buchanan's third party campaign does not change the fact that Bay Buchanan is a conservative Republican.
And, by the way, a quick Google search shows that the only people attacking Bay Buchanan are the KOS and DU leftist fringers and YOU. Birds of a feather... Yet, they do it on their own leftist forums. You, instead, abuse this conservative forum to attack conservatives.
Save for later
"...but have to rely on the words of people who actually work in Congress."
Where does Tancredo work currently?
Pence's approach was novel and well-meant. But it, in fact, undermined the security first approach of the already passed HR 4437. Rep. Tancredo did come down a bit hard on Rep. Pence. But, among border security/immigration reform advocates who have worked so hard to get good legislation passed, the Pence plan went over like a fart in church.
JMO, for bay buchanan.
Good morning whiner. What's the matter, someone kick your dog?
Okay, it's now official. Dane has overdosed.
You're not even responding to the facts anymore. All I hear is hyperbole mixed with the same tired parroted lines. You haven't really responded to anything posted by me or others in this thread.
JMO and I would also say general opinion on FR, is that you and tom tancredo have overdosed on bay buchanan rhetoric.
Being bitter all the time like bay buchanan, tom tancredo, and hillary is not a good thing for the mind or body.
Same thing you've been told, over & over......
Sheesh.....Dane has gotten so *bitter*, HE will post a thread, & nearly every one of HIS replies includes a RANT against Tancredo.
Even tho Tancredo's name isn't even mentioned in DANE's own article.
Seems DANE is so bitter he can't stay on topic in his own threads.
Uh I'm not the one so bitter to set up a PAC(ala tancredo/bay buchanan) to defeat a good conservative, Chris Cannon, who has gotten a glowing endorsement from another good conservative, James Sensenbrenner.
It defies the laws of physics just how much fecal matter you are full of. You are so full of crap that you threaten to collapse in upon yourself and form a black hole. Hmmm... Maybe that's already happened as truth and light seem to be swallowed up around you and you suck more than anyone else I've encountered on Free Republic.
No, the illegal alien who mows his lawn got arrested for drunk driving Friday night and didn't show up for work yesterday.
Get backs on your meds, next you'll be claiming PAC stands for 'People Against Cannon'.
Last I heard our pols have a right to support a candidate, same as the voters do.
You are wasting your breath arguing again Mr.FR (Dane) Openborders.
For whatever reason he wants the flood of illegals to continue, and all illegals to be granted amnesty. If you doubt what I say, check his profile and previous posts.
Some religous communities shun or ignore those who are continually wrongheaded and prone to stirring up trouble. Maybe that's a good idea in this case.
