I see the distincy possibility of the GOP fracturing in 20 years. America will descend into a three-party Hell on Earth, with no clear majority and a declining sense of nationality from increasing immigration and socialist policies. As America weakens from within like the Empire of Rome, its world stature will also decline. Woe unto Bablyon, that whore!

Perot was 100% the fault of Bush 41 himself, not of conservatives. If he had not broken his promise not to raise taxes, there would not have been a conservative defection to Perot. So let the GOP behave, and there will not be a problem.
Bush 41 created his own problems. Perot made them worse during and after the elections. And republican voters who thought about teaching the republican leadership a lesson learned that it was them, the voters, who were being taught a lesson. However, it seems like a lot of republican voters don't learn their lessons well.
How can any person with half a brain be thinking that teaching the republicans another lesson will solve any problems. Actually, biting your nose to spite your face will only have the same people that made the mistake in 1992 cry foul again if a democrat gets into office because of republican stupidity again.
I read a lot of republicans making the statements here that we are blessed by the stupidity and ignorance of our enemy, namely the democrats. But, the democrats would seem like geniuses if republicans again go with a third party to the extent that democrats get into power again.

Voting is about CHOICES A or B, NOT "ideal, perfect" president vs. 90% perfect.
You voted against Bush, you got Clinton. Is that what you really wanted?
People need to start paying attention and taking responsibility for their actions.
People voting for Perot are DIRECTLY responsible for the election of Bill Clinton as president.

You don't say? I thought the Republican leadership did learn a lesson, leading to the conservative resurgence in 1994, and the first budget surpluses since who-knows-when.
I don't think we should be so paternalistic to say that the voters should learn a lesson. Just nominate someone for whom conservatives can vote, maybe even while holding their noses, not another big spender like president Bush.

"Yet, somehow I believe this alternate history (w. President Gore) would have seen the death of the Democratic Party."

And quite possibly the death of thousands or even millions of American people and the US as we know it, because the terrorists may have hit us multiple times with WMD -- just the other day we saw that AQ was ready to release poison gas in the NY subway system. How many other attacks may we have had, while Gore was wringing his hand?
People have to be suicidal to vote for the Dems.

I agree with you on that. But you must also be vigilant that you do not become irrelevant. If people keep voting for the lesser of the two evils, then the lesser of the two evils will become more evil every year, taking all the voters for granted. It is important not to let that happen. So, let the GOP nominate a good candidate, and all will be OK. Can we agree on that?

Zell Miller, a Democratic constitutionalist, could not win the Democratic nomination but he could easily win the election. I believe it.

Conversely--and more critically--we mustn't become the unwitting victims of the clintons, the Left and their flim flam.
We must resist splitting our vote, AT ALL COSTS.
We must realize that splitting the Right will be their strategy. As a minority party, they cannot win, (especially if they run someone as repulsive as clinton), without splitting us with either a Perot or an issue that will function like a Perot to keep some voters home.

Agreed. So let's nominate someone who will not split the right, rather than John McCain.

And, as I recall again, Bush's quote was "Read my lips, no NEW taxes".
Another victory for the MSM.

I don't know about those details and time line, but yes, America's bright possibilities for the future were doomed with the passage of the 1965 immigration bill.
What is interesting to speculate on, is the fact that we will still be physically and economically powerful long after our national character is gone, where will that lead to?

Agreed. This could happen. If it does, the single biggest factor will be illegal immigration.

That is ridiculous. There goes the credibility of this author. Sensational charges require sensational evidence which this author does not give. By the way Zell Miller would be 75 in 2008.
