I do not believe Ken Lay was pure as the driven snow, but he is NOT the devil incarnate as many portray him. Many of the other players in this have been noted, but anyone with two bits of common sense should have know that one company could not be everything to everyone in the energy business.

It is also absurd for those who rode that horse all the way up the hill, to whine and cry so loudly on the way down.

FROM A MOONBAT SITE...THESE PEOPLE JUST KEEP ON GETTING CRAZIER AND CRAZIER!!!!!

Sources from inside the Beltway indicate he had a bug up his ass. Literally.

CIA spooks planted a listening device while he was under sedation. The electronic implant had dual-use capabilities -- it could also deliver a fatal electrical shock directly into the nervous system of its victim.

Kenny was despondent and bitter over being thrown under the bus by his friend in the Oval Orifice and was going to detail crimes committed by then-Governor Bush related to attempts to win influence with the Taliban in Afghanistan. At the time, the Taliban was demanding concessions for an American oil pipeline being planned to carry crude oil across the lawless plains.

Enron Corporation hosted representatives of the Taliban at the time and arranged secret meetings between lieutenants of Osama bin Laden and the Bush governor's office. George W. Bush and the bin Laden family were friends going back years to the time when Salem bin Laden, the oldest half-brother of Osama bin Laden, bailed George Bush out of bankruptcy. Bush was presiding over the slide into bankruptcy of his Arbrusto Energy company.

Sources associated with the Lay family say his body will be cremated and honored in a private ceremony at his Colorado residence.

BTW, it's amazing how many FReepers actually believe that a company can have an in-house rule that prevents shareholders from freely disposing of vested shares as they see fit.

Probably because it's true.

"Enron generally provided a 50 percent match in stock on before-tax contributions, up to a maximum of 6 percent of base pay. But employees couldn't sell any of those shares until they reached the age 50."

Find that restriction in the SEC regulations, or STFU already.

My, you're a classy individual.

It's really not my fault if you don't understand what a vesting period is.

The OT is certainly an historical document but it is full of types and shadows. It speaks to our experience as individuals as much as it does the church as a whole. The experience of the nation of Israel is a type of the individual's experience in the NT experience.

In addition I'd offer that the NT commentary certainly should influence our approach to the NT and not the other way around. This is a product of the dispensation of revelation - particularly in the words of Christ and the Apostles. Both of which clearly reflect more than a long-suffering God but instead of loving, jealous and protective Father.

"It's not really my fault" because you are expressing no capability for thought or recognition of facts. You're just troll and we're through with your BS.

"Personally I'm expecting the same @#^#ing by our friendly federal government when the boomers all retire and demand my wages be taxed ... trillions invested in 401(k) and IRA plans, you wonder how long it will be before politicians (from BOTH parties I believe) will look at such $ as they next great tax revenue stream."

One problem: who says Boomers are going to retire? Ken Lay didn't. The *me* generation is going to stay in their revenue streams until they are carried away.

Another obstacle: New Nersey. There, in a state with systemic corruption, a massive, all-seeing Democratic Party Machine, Democratic dominance of the Legislature, Courts, and Gubernatorial branches, and union-goon enforcers at the sreet level, they can't even raise sales taxes 1% without a massive popular outcry.

Thus, the Blue-ist, most "me" generation of states shows that raising taxes is very, very unpopular. Try repealing the interest rate deduction from home mortgages and you'll quickly see the American public *B!tc#Slap* such tax-raising nonsense. Attacks on retirement IRA's, 401K's, and other such instruments would be met with even more politically-unviable results.

Woe to the miscalculating politician who "Goes there."

you are expressing no capability for thought or recognition of facts

Fact: no matter which company you work for, you cannot sell unvested shares and you can sell vested shares.

Fact: Enron employees were free to sell their vested shares just as any other employee in America was free to sell vested shares.

Fact: if Enron employees were unhappy with the vesting period in Enron shares they could have opted to put 6% of their pretax income in cash or mutual funds.

It's OK that you don't understand how 401k plans work - a lot of people have difficulty understanding them.

That doesn't really give you any call to curse at me or call me names, however.

Great Research!

Thanks for the information.

Do you happen to know how much money Lay gave to Bush and the Republicans?

"Not Yet, truth is; Ken Lay faked his death and left a body double, he is on permanent vacation with Elvis and Bin Laden in the secret undersea city in the Bermuda Triangle built in the site of Atlantis which is operated by members of the Bilderberger Conspiracy."

Thanks for clearing that up.

I wrote: "Enron employees did not have this liberty to the degree afforded most employees at most companies"

You wrote: "They absolutely did have every right that every other American has."

Again I will state that, unlike the rest of us, at the very moment when we found out that there was trouble in Enron and were able to pull our investments out, the Enron employees were *locked* because Lay et al. had elected to change Enron's 401k plan administrator.

Therefore they did *not* have the same freedom as the rest of us to act upon market conditions. They did have latitude prior to the news, but since we and they were both being lied to about the situation, they had no idea there was any reason to bail out. If this is "their fault" then IMO that's no different from blaming a mugging victim.

Anyway the rest of your post I agree on. I shed no tears for Lay's death but he's not a mass-murdering terrorist!

Oh, I didn't know that. I worked on the arm chair sleuthing of that with someone who was doing a lot more than arm chairing it (a person now deceased - I'm sure they know who it is).

I saw all of it unfold (on TV and later, the scene) and also believed it to be murder, until later. In the end, I just wasn't convinced that anyone else was involved.

If it came out that someone did somehow cause it to happen, I have two ideas about that, too.

More like H. Clinton had him Fosterized in case Lay might start thinking about trading info in return for a shorter time in prison once he got there. Wasn't he a FOB--&H?

So I guess this puts an end to any civil suit against him to recover the lost millions. That would seem to be a good reason for suicide or maybe it's a combination disappearance and coincident homicide of a look-alike. With the kind of coin he had, I have no doubt something like that could be arranged. If I were among the attorneys representing shareholders, I would demand DNA evidence of his demise.
