According to well-placed insiders on the Times' Board of Directors, a shaken Sulzberger made that announcement in a hastily convened meeting of the Board of the Times' parent company, The New York Times Corp. Sulzberger reportedly told the board that the discovery was made last week.
"During an internal investigation, we reached the regrettable conclusion that Karl Rove has been running this newspaper since at least August, 2002," Sulzberger reportedly stated. "His intention is clear - to ruin the reputation of the newspaper and the party that our editorial policy supports."
Sulzberger reportedly continued: "I ordered an investigation to determine how the Times had come to publish detailed information about a top-secret government monitoring operation of the international financial transactions of al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups. The publication of this information clearly helps an enemy that killed thousands of people just a few blocks from here. Endangering Americans is something the Times would never intentionally do. Unfortunately this story fits a pattern of publication that has almost ruined the Times' reputation for probity and journalistic honesty as well as causing incalculable damage to the Democratic party that our editorial policy supports."
Edith Steingehirn, the Times' internal investigator who made the Rove discovery, told the board: "Our investigation into the publication of the terror financing story quickly led us to discover other frightening actions taken by our news and editorial divisions during the past four years."

Like what? I want to see if you're thinking what i'm thinking.
I thought this was an eloquent touch also... right after the protest.

All that's missing...
Conyers in one of his backroom house democrat investigations.
The problem with this article .. it feeds the hysterial left's moonbats!
It would explain the apparent mindless, lemming-to-the-cliff, anti-American, actions and "journalism" that has come to define the NYT and their deluded readers.
Sarcasm, of course. Karl Rove seems to be a decent guy, with much more important things to do - but this does describe the left's fascination with Rove. They are convinced that someone else is causing their stupidity. They don't understand decent guys, so it must by someone like Rove.
Nice. Karl Rove, of course. He's everwhere!
I thought this was an eloquent touch also... right after the protest.
Notice also the NY Treason Times claims they are investigating, there is no comment from any Law Enforcment authority. Looks like the Times is manufacturing their "news" now.
And that's a good thing.
It explains so very much. I thought the Treason Times stories were just a little too obvious, knowwhumsayin'? And getting Howlin' Howie Dean installed as the head of the DNC was an absolute master stroke. The man's a fiend.
Why do you think that's a good thing ..?? I don't!
Don't forget Rove is also the Commander of his own fleet of Haliburton made "Dirigibles of Doom."
Moonbats must be isolated and paranoia isolates. That's a good thing.
I see your point, but I don't necessarily think the moonbats need any help in thinking up their ignorant and idiotic conspiracy theories.
No it has to be true. In addition it proves that Rove is immortal as well as a genius.
To wit: We now know that the Times knowingly concealed Stalin's mass murders and crimes against humanity (the largest genocide in the history of the human race) proving the newspaper's traitorous antiAmerican pro communist agenda since before WWII. It had to be Rove that duped the simple minded reporters, editors and publisher of the Times into those treasonous acts.
BUT ROVE IS TOO YOUNG to have been inside the times since the mid 1930's, or so everybody thinks. Rove is actually immortal, periodically changes his name and appearance, and has been able to manipulate simple minded liberals into traitorous acts for centuries, he's got it down to a science.
Sulzberger is right, he and his family are dupes and victims, and for Karl it's just all in a day's work.
Bill, see #35.
Egad! So the whole Fall of the Roman Empire thing...that was Rove, wasn't it? Put a phony beard on him...no, I don't want to think about it.
"Please don't hurt me, Karl..."
Yep. At least as far back as conning Brutus into rubbing out Caesar and writing Marc Anthony's speech to the Senate. Karl later recited it to Bill Shakespeare, for the record.
Clearly, this is Bush's fault.
