The New York Times op-ed page has a feature today called 'A First Step Back From the Brink.' As the Times describes it:
"With chaos threatening to engulf Lebanon, the need to resolve the conflict in the Middle East has rarely seemed so urgent. The Op-Ed editors went to seven experts with experience in the region, asking each of them what should be the first step toward defusing the crisis."
Richard Perle is one of the contributors, and makes the case that "Israel must see the current fighting through to a conclusion that is unambiguously a defeat for Hezbollah and Hamas." But most if not all of the other contributors call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, including Judith Kipper of the Council on Foreign Relations who wants to negotiate with Hezbollah and Hamas and describes them as 'political parties and social welfare organizations', albeit with 'military wings.'
Then there's a Columbia professor of Arab studies, Rashid Khalidi, who blames the problem largely on Israel's 'occupation of Palestinian lands' and condemns the US and Israel for their allegedly 'empty bombast about terrorism.'
The contributors are all partisans of varying stripes. But what is most significant is the way the Times itself has framed the issue with its editorial cartoon. For the Old Gray Lady, there is no difference between the rejectionists and Islamo-fascists of Hamas and Hezbollah, and the people of Israel who seek to survive in a hostile Arab sea. They are all simply mad dogs, literally armed to the teeth.
This is moral relativism at its most abject.
As Thomas Sowell puts it so well, this is the kind of argument that keeps the violence going. If the world position was, "When you are attacked you have the right to completely obliterate the country in which the attackers are harbored" then there would be far fewer people using terror. They use terror because they know that, past the first "missile up a camel's butt" the aggrieved will be restrained and they will be free to attack again at a later time.
Shalom.
She'd get them to the table so Israel will stop this incursion. Condi should then tell her, "Oh, and after you negotiate the peace, you're to live in an Israeli border town for 10 years afterwards."
Shalom.
Quit picking on the NYT. They run a fairly challenging crossword puzzle.
Short sell the NY Times. Their stock price is going to rush southward ever faster. This cartoon from the paper that features the venom-spitting and rabid Maureen Dowd.
No doubt some of those empty ships now moving American refugees out of Lebanon, arrived in the area with loaded cargo holds for Israel.
With The New York Times downsizing, you have to worry if that famous NYT crossword puzzle will survive.
What a great illustration! Verily a picture is worth a thousand words.
I gave up the NYT puzzle after 30 years because they started charging for their 'features' and none of my money was going to support the NYT columnists like Dowd and Rich.
I get my NYT Sunday Crossword Puzzle in my local Florida paper. They also publish the Washington Post CP. When I'm in the Washington area visiting my kids, I buy the WP because they have the best comics.
The Best On-Line Crossword Puzzle is the "Saturday Stumper," in the Boston Herald.
first try I can't find "the Saturday Stumper", but I'll keep trying. Thanks
CP? Communist Propoganda?
CP = Crossword Puzzle. But "Communist Propaganda" is pretty close to the mark, Doctor.
How do I find out if my mutual funds own NYT Stock, and what can I do if they do?
Here is something, we can all do today to start eliminating the NY Slimes as a threat to our nation's security. We can do it at our computers and do it in less than 1 hour. Besides sending a severe warning to the NY Slimes and the mutual fund companies who buy NY Slimes stock, we will improve our precious investment capital being wasted on NY Slimes stock.
If a few thousand freepers did this simple action this week and a few thousand new freepers, friends and relatives each following week, we will have a terminal impact on the NY Slimes acts of sedition. Please send this how to your blogs, friends, relatives and email lists. This action will serve as a cannon shot across the bows fo the other Dinosaur Liberal Fish Wraps re sedition will not be tolerated any more.
Want to smash the NY Slimes?
How many of us own mutual funds which own NY Slimes stock and even worse have increased their NYT holdings this year. NYT investment by a mutual fund company is a terrible investment re the dollar loss in Stock value the last 2 years. Those investments are an attempt to keep the NY Slimes afloat with our mutual fund $'s. Now it is very evident that the NY Slimes is an agent and abettor of the al Qaeda Serial Killers. The Slimes is endangering the lives of our families, friends, innocent Americans and every warrior of ours. Go to this link to see if your mutual fund owns NYT. http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/ownership/ownership.asp When the MS Money stock home page comes up, enter NYT into the search area and hit enter and the following screen will show up re ownership of the NY Slimes stock: The New York Times Company: Ownership Information
Highlight the Mutual Fund Ownership and hit enter. If thousands of Freepers, whose mutual funds own shares of NY Slimes did the following:
We might have a lot more impact selling/trading any mutual fund, which owns NYT, than trying to boycott companies which sell to the elite liberals of NYC and advertise in the NY Slimes. |
