"Now, obviously the three of us weren't going to blurt out, 'Hey, Houston, we've got something moving alongside of us and we don't know what it is, you know?'"

No I don't know.

"Stars don't show up on images taken in space."

Or so the ph.d's at NASA would have us believe.

Yea, but back then America had the will to kick out the aliens.

I wish the mods had the will to kick out thread hijackers.

An independent source or two would be helpful.

You can't get an independent source, but you could get the other 2 fellows who were with him....I'm noticing they aren't saying anything.

I used a Bic pen to fix the shift linkage on a 65 Mustang out in the middle of the desert. Trying to go 70 miles in first gear with a 202 would have taken me about 10 hours.

You probably meant 302, but if it was a 65 it would have been a 289.

Sorry, just felt like getting nit-picky. ;}

"There was something out there, close enough to be observed, and what could it be?

"Now, obviously the three of us weren't going to blurt out, 'Hey, Houston, we've got something moving alongside of us and we don't know what it is, you know?

"Can you tell us what it is?'

Now, class. Where does Aldrin say he saw a Flying Saucer or aliens? He doesn't. He claims he saw *something* that was close. Big whoop... like as not, it was a bit of insulation, foil, a part of the S-IVB stage, something like that. Astronauts have long remorted seeign things floating near their spacecraft. Generally turns out to be ice, insulation, etc. A straightforward observation (an "object," that was "flying" near their spacecraft that was "unidentified") being blown way out of proportion.

No, it was no UFO on the moon, but Buzz thought that he saw it, and that is completely different.

Yeah, if Neil Armstrong were to verify this, it would have a lot more credibility.

I'm still not sure if that would be good enough.

They are (and were) all friends.

The only other sources who could either verify (or deny) Buzz's claims are his fellow buddy astronauts.

Hey Houston, hook us up some more of these!

You had me with you until, at the end, you blurted out"...and health food for all"!

That just spoiled the moment.

"We saw a UFO"

UFO = Unidentified Flying Object. Strong emphasis on the first word.

Translation: "We saw a light and didn't know what it was." I'd be amazed if the first people who ever set foot on an extraterrestrial body didn't see at least one of those.

It seems to me that call should have been made;in case of a disaster that results in the loss of the space ship.

Otherwise endless speculation would ensue. - tom
