To the best of my knowledge, Armitage has not yet "fessed up" to the public, only to other officials and those who investigated the case. The man needs to at least issue a press release or have a sit-down with a journalist.
Already posted.
Yeah, he did fess up, to the New York Times of course. It's a whitewash in tomorrow's paper. It was linked on Tom Maguire's blog a few hours ago.
I apologize for the double post. I did not see the earlier one. Please post there, and I ask the Administrator to block this one.
Armitage has always been loyal only to Armitage. Do some searches on the name, I guarantee all kinds of stuff will pop up.
THis does not look good in Bush's case. Did he know what the hell was going on in his administration? Evidently not.
Evidently not, but I think it's because he is himself such a decent, honest man he could not have imagined the extent of the perfidy in this town or in his former officials.
There have been many on this board who have opined that Bush had a problem with having/leaving enemies within his administration. Where was the very clever and able Karl Rove? If Mr. Bush was too decent to remove all of his enemies from his own camp, where were his faithful advisors?
Carter was regarded as a decent man by people on both sides of the aisle. His "legacy" is none too admirable.
The blame for this belongs to Armitage, Powell, and Fitzgerald.
And Acting AG Comey that appointed Fitz, after the Justice Department KNEW that Armitage was the "leaker".
I am a little confused, Novak says he will not reveal his source on air until he comes forward and announces it himself.
Did Armitage come out and admit it or was that just his lawyer???
Just heard Novak say...his source should come out and reveal himself. (Sounds like an HGTV show..and now, for the big REVEAL)
Mr. Fitzgerald has nonetheless also tried to spin an aura that Mr. Libby was responsible for outing Ms. Plame. In his press conference on October 28, 2005, the prosecutor asserted that "In fact, Mr. Libby was the first official known to have told a reporter when he talked to [former New York Times reporter] Judith Miller in June of 2003 about Valerie Wilson." But we have since learned that Mr. Armitage also told Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward about Ms. Plame--a fact that Mr. Fitzgerald never uncovered until Mr. Woodward came forward after he heard Mr. Fitzgerald make that false public assertion.
"At a minimum, there appears to be a serious question of disloyalty here. By keeping silent, Messrs. Powell and Armitage let the President take political heat for the case, while also letting Mr. Rove, Mr. Libby and other White House officials twist in the wind for more than two years. We also know that it was the folks in Mr. Powell's shop--including his former chief of staff Lawrence Wilkerson and intelligence officer Carl Ford Jr.--who did so much to trash John Bolton's nomination to be Ambassador to the U.N. in 2005. The State Department clique that Mr. Bush tolerated for so long did tremendous damage to his Administration."

AND FOR YOU JOHN MCCAIN FANS, THESE PEOPLE "Messrs. Powell and Armitage" ET AL HAVE JOINED HIS 2008 PRESIDENTAIL CAMPAIGN. ALSO, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT SOME OF THESE PEOPLE TESTIFIED DURING THE SHAM "9/11 COMMISSION HEARINGS" AND THAT POWELL WAS ONE OF THE LEADING OPPONENTS TO FINISHING OFF SADDAM IN '91 ...RTO
Armitage sits on the board of directors of Connoco-Phillips. We should freep Connoco-Phillips and tell them we will not purchase their products until we hear from Armitage. Shameless prick lets Libby twist. He has relatively young children and a wife. He should publically apologize to Bush, Rove, Libby, and excoriated Fitzgerald for his ambitious, overzealous persecution of men whom he knew did not commit a crime. He, rather, set a perjury trap and Libby fell right in. Armitage should hang his head in shame. Powell - the same.
Armitage has not commented that I am aware of. Only Isikoff and Corn. But they provided just enough information to confirm that Armitage was the original source. It tied in with other information that was already know.
