Iraq says captures No. 2 al Qaeda leader

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. and Iraqi forces have arrested the second most senior figure in al Qaeda in Iraq, National Security Adviser Mowaffak al-Rubaie said on Sunday.

"I can say al Qaeda in Iraq is severely wounded," he told a news conference.

He named the man as Hamed Juma Faris al-Suaidi, also known as Abu Humam or Abu Rana, and said he was the deputy to Abu Ayyub al-Masri, who took over the insurgent group after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. air strike in June.

The U.S. military says Sunni Islamist al Qaeda is a "prime instigator" of sectarian conflict between Iraq's Sunni minority and Shi'ite majority that threatens all-out civil war, but that it has been left reeling by U.S. and Iraqi operations that have killed or captured scores of its militants in recent weeks.

Got to be the most dangerous job in the world. Al Qeda loses a number 2 about every other month these days.

LOL! Bingo! The lefties are and have been delusional for quite sometime now.

Is it safe to assume that the latest AlQueda video is for their 2006 membership drive? Sure seems that way. My concern is, that many home grown looser lemmings will join them!

There's a number 2, and there is number 2. This seems to be the former, instead of the usual latter.

He was the second most important al-Qaida in Iraq leader after Abu Ayyub al-Masri, al-Rubaie said. Al-Masri succeeded Abu Musab al-Zarqawi

Hamed Jumaa Farid al-Saeedi, known as Abu Humam or Abu Rana, was arrested a few days ago, Mouwaffak al-Rubaie said, adding that his arrest also led to the capture or death of 11 other top al-Qaida in Iraq figures and nine lower-level members.

Not only that, but all their 'sacred' shrines and mosques seem to be taking hits.

Fox News reported that he had surrounded himself with women and children as human shields. These terrorist leaders are unwilling to martyr themselves like they want their followers to do. That point should be made over and over in the Muslim world. When Zarqawi was shown having to be helped to fire his weapon, he lost a lot of believers.
