I was never a fan of Irwin's schtick, but he didn't seem like a bad guy. Certainly didn't deserve to be raked over the coals so soon after his departure.

I was a big fan of Irwin. I think a lot of guys admired him, and envied him a little. He was successful, happy, and spent his life doing pretty much what he wanted to do. Ms. Greer is a bitter irrelevent old woman.

She hates, because that's what she does. Her books were diatribes against life, and what she hated about Irwin was that he was happy and productive, and that he payed little attention to bitter people who get their only pleasures from the misfortunes of others.
