WHY IS JACK SCARED TO DEBATE? REASON NUMBER 17: HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THAT HE WRONGLY ACCUSED U.S. MARINES OF COLD-BLOODED MURDER

(MONONGAHELA, October 20) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey - responding to Jack Murtha's refusal to meet with her to debate the issues, despite newspaper editorials urging him to debate, a League of Women Voters offer to host and sponsor a debate, and local television stations' offer to air the debate -- today released this statement:
"Monday we began our 21-part series, 'Why doesn't Jack want to debate?' wherein I suggest 21 reasons Jack Murtha might be refusing to debate me in public.
"Today I offer reason number 17 Jack Murtha is scared to debate me: because HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THAT HE WRONGLY ACCUSED U.S. MARINES OF COLD-BLOODED MURDER.
"On May 17, 2006, referring to the actions of U.S. Marines at Haditha, Iraq, on November 19, 2005, Jack Murtha said Marines 'killed innocent civilians in cold blood' - before the first Marine was charged, before the first court-martial was convened, before the first Marine was convicted.
"Jack Murtha acted as prosecutor, judge, and jury, passing sentence on men in the heat of battle thousands of miles away without any personal knowledge of what occurred there that day, and before any investigation had been completed.
"Our troops shouldn't have to worry about defending their reputations while they're defending our freedoms."

Not trying to defend Murtha's voting himself (and the rest of Congress, I presume) pay raises, but how would those pay increases since he entered Congress compare with inflation during that time span?
