It's not as if this hurts Kerry, his seat is safe, but the DNC has to be going absolutely apesh!t over this. They probably ordered him to do the news conference.

You just know they have to be fuming. This was supposed to be a week of being the football team ahead by a touchdown with 30 seconds to go, just taking a knee and watching the clock run down to zero before storming the field and ripping down the goalposts. And now Kerry comes along and opens his cakehole, in effect fumbling the ball and handing it over to the other team with plenty of time left to tie the score.

They're probably going to regret ordering him out to have a press conference, though. All he'll likely do is make things even worse for them. And now they all but guarantee that the networks will be forced to cover it this evening, and that the rest of the DBM will have to follow. Any chance they had of spiking it just flew out the window.

Not quite..Kerry will not be allowed to run for both the WH AND the DSenate, like Lieberman...if he's serious about the Oval Office..he'll have lots of pressure not to step aside NOW..especially if the GOP holds the Mass governorship..
