A Statement from John Kerry
As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.
I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.
It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I dont want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

my poorly stated joke at a rally
If it was so poorly stated why did he not catch the mistake as soon as he uttered it? If you said n*gg*r instead of 'black person' would it take days to figure it out?

Quite. A statement in this tone, but with the phrase 'might reasonably be interpreted as depricating those in uniform' replacing 'were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform', issued in place of the rant he gave yesterday, would have been just and appropriate.

I personally apologize to any service member I think he ought to hop on his private jet and go to Baghdad and personally apologize to the troops. Maybe he can buy them a beer or something and really get to know them. :-)

"... my poorly stated joke..."Jokes have a punchline, mr. kerry, and you forgot to bring one. And please don't try to tell us this "joke" was about President Bush, because he studied at least as hard as you did at Yale and then earned himself an MBA at Harvard and then passed ANG flight school. And (oh, yeah) he then went on to become Governor of Texas and President of the United States. George Bush doesn't look like he's "stuck," but you sure do, mr. kerry -- stuck on stupid with egg all over your face. Maybe you should have "studied harder."
To: jessduntno
kerry was NOT a combat veteran.
He was and remains a paper-cut coward.
He was a traitor to us then and he is a traitor to our Troops today.

It wouldn't have legs if it didn't represent how he and his ilk really feel about the military. He should just stop talking now and go away... and please, stay away.

You can post a reply, but it's being reviewed first.

You would understand if you had benefited from an elite education and the life long company of American's elect. Not having done so, you are confused and in error. Still, be comforted that you and other little people like you, will receive proper leadership from your betters.

That's an apology? If you took it the wrong way, I'm sorry?
How about: "I'm sorry I said things that made it look like I was saying bad things about military service?"
And to say it on camera, instead of getting some staffer to write it up for him?

I believe most people will see through this self serving tripe. Kerry lacks any conformity to truth or facts.
I imagine the timing of this released statement was calculated to have the most impact for the upcoming news hours.
To: jessduntno
A perfect John F'n Kerry non-apology. He is an arrogant, narcissistic ass.

If John Kerry is apologizing in a blog, then he likely DID NOT write it.
He has disavowed statements where he said he was Irish (he is not) that are in the Congressional Record. He's said they were entered by his staff. Without video footage, I won't believe it for a second, and even then I would doubt he MEANT it.

Beer?! Bah! As if Kerry would be caught anywhere near something so gauche. Talk? to troops?! Why, they probably don't even have trust funds!
To: The_Reader_David
Kerry should resign. He should have never been elected in the first place.
I do not accept his NON apology.
