Just heard on CNN Headline News he was found. Rescue personal saw flashing object and found him. No word of his condition.
Thanks, fish hawk.
Sometimes I feel like a lonely frog, who some would want to go eat worms.... just because I both care, and hope to prevent another such situation...
Toss in some cans of sardines and a few high nutrition bars, candy, some bottled water, a space blanket, regular blanket and extra jacket, matches, lighter, candle; it you're traveling in a cold remote climate, always take a coat and mittens even if you don't need them in a car. Someone else suggested a folding shovel for snow, flares - any other suggestions . .
and stay with the car is the usual advice . .
The family had been in the car for so long that as a caring father, he probably began to despair that they would ever be found and felt like he had to try something to save them.
Such a sad story. I had hoped for a happier ending.
Maybe On Star isn't such a sissy thing after all. - I suggest now though that those on this thread who are knowlegeable outdoorsman make some lists we can all print off so we can be prepared in case of traveling in remote areas - as a lot of us to from time to time. - Any suggestions will be welcome . . .
Wow... I know he got more media attention due to his wealth, but this story really hits home with me for some reason.
I hope he was a Christian.
God bless his family. My prayers go out to them.
Does anyone know if they are Christians?
They showed a map with the route he traveled and he was soooo close to the car. Just awful.
Why ? Would you have sympathized less with his family if he were not a Christian ? Is the fact that he was a human not enough for you ?
We've gone up to Diamond Lake (hour north of Crater Lake) in the summer time, and supposedly the roads to Diamond Lake get lots of snow. Even in the summer time, there weren't a lot of people around that area.
I can't imagine getting stuck in that area in the winter.
It's not that far downriver. Zane Gray's cabin/airstrip is a few miles downriver from Horseshoe bend - when the river goes southwest for a short length. You can see it from Google Earth.
This is very sad. I was really hoping that somehow James Kim would make it.
You wouldn't sympathize less, we could however rejoice that he is in heaven.
Nonsense.
Pardon me, I forgot. Only Christians have exclusive access to Heaven.
What's your problem?
Why shouldn't we be happy to learn Mr. Kim was a believer? I would be.
If you are not a Christian, then you probably believe that Christians do not get into heaven.
If you were a Muslim, you might want to know if he was a Muslim.
I really don't care that some people don't think I will get into heaven.
I only care about what God thinks.
They must have been on Merlin-Galice road and saw the sign that said Gold Beach 66 miles and took that road?
Here is a link to the Hwy 96 accident... Three Lose Life in Klamath
He died a MAN.
RIP, sir.
