Nifong just refuses to be saved. How many lifelines has this guy been thrown?

I don't think it would do any good for Nifong to hand the case off to someone else. Really, the only thing that could have helped him would have been for him to have found some excuse for dropping all charges; he had many opportunities when he could have dropped all charges in such fashion as to largely protect himself from civil suits. While it would have been easy for the accused to prove he exercised very poor judgement, prosecutors cannot be sued for any honest judgement calls they make, no matter how bizarre the judgement shown. But deciding whether to conspire to conceal exculpatory evidence isn't a judgement call prosecutors are allowed to make.

My impression is that the bar association probably would have liked to keep things under wraps as long as Nifong's actions could be explained away as "poor judgement". Although they can't immediately publish their complaints about his manipulation of the DNA report, I would expect it was the exposure of his DNA-report tampering that provided the impetus for the complaints to be published when they were.

Maybe he's looking for a rich daddy to buy him an expensive lawyer.

Actually if this were to go to court, Meehan would testify that the DNA of X number of people are on Mangum, but none of any lacrosse team member with 100% certainty. Then Nifong can explain why if Mangum got DNA on her from other men she came in contact with, how come she has no DNA from any lacrosse team member. [This is pretty amazing given that she was rolling around on the floor naked. ]

Also this points out the sad fact that particularly if the venue is not changed, the defense feels they must defend all Duke lacrosse players to keep a jury from convicting these three Duke lacrosse players. Nifong has in fact suggested they know who did it and a juror that believes she was raped might want to punish the defendants because they know who did it and did not tell.

The move by the bar and the DAs is an attempt to get this over before Duke's semmester begins. I suspect after the 15th hearing Nifong was pressured to drop this case.

Being the complete politically tone deaf idiot he is, Nifong dropped the rape charges but not the others. So the bar publically filed their charges. He did not drop the charges today, so the DAs publically called on him to recuse himself. There are probably other shoes to drop if he continues.

Heck, I will even give Mangum more slack than Nifong. She knew what she was. She fully expected to cry rape, HOPE to get out of involuntary commitment. She had the reasonable expecctation that any reasonable DA would look at her claim and not charge anyone. And she is right any DA with any morals what so ever would have left this to the DPD who were going to investigate and likely not even forward informatin to the DA. But it is certainly more Mangum's fault than the players.

Q: Is my membership in the North Carolina State Bar mandatory?

Yes, to be entitled to practice law in North Carolina, you must be an active member of the North Carolina State Bar in good standing.

http://www.ncbar.com/faq/f_faq.asp

I am not disputing what you are stating, only clarifying that integrated can mean mandatory membership.

Regardless, it seems the North Carolina Bar would suffer the same incestuous politics as other state bars.

It appears that someone is confusing the North Carolina State Bar (www.ncbar.gov & .com), a stautorily created State agency in which memberhip is mandatory), and the North Carolina Bar Association (www.ncbar.org, a voluntary organization).

Wiki is a good place to start, but more research is generally in order. ;>)

If they would have been studying instead of partying they wouldn't have been in this undeserved mess,

Good Lord, Buddy! It was spring break!

When it's not spring break, these boys obviously do study- From up thread: (Mary Katherine Ham)

"Guess what the graduation rate is for the Duke lacrosse team. No really, go for it. Hazard a guess. A team at an elite private university is still full of a bunch of numbskull jocks, right? And, we all know what kind of guys the Duke lacrosse players are. The very even-handed mainstream media has treated us to a picture of them as non-stop, beer-guzzling Neanderthals who spend all their time using Mommy’s and Daddy’s Northeastern, lily-white riches to find new and exciting ways to exploit local minorities. Well, those meat-headed cavemen have a 100-percent graduation rate. One hundred percent. You read that right. That’s three percent higher than the overall student-athlete graduation rate, at a university with one of the highest student-athlete graduation rates in the nation. Only one other men’s sport at Duke—cross country—can match that rate. 2. Did you know they didn’t just graduate? Many of them even distinguished themselves academically? This from the report of the Lacrosse Ad Hoc Review Committee, the group of Duke faculty charged with deciding whether or not to retain the lacrosse program in the wake of the rape case. In 2005, twenty seven members of the lacrosse team, more than half, made the Atlantic Coast Conference's Academic Honor Roll, more than any other ACC lacrosse team. 9 Between 2001 and 2005, 146 members of the lacrosse team made the Academic Honor Roll, twice as many as the next ACC lacrosse team. The lacrosse team's academic performance generally is one of the best among all Duke athletic teams. Professors described lacrosse players in their classes as “polite students” who “took academic obligations seriously.”

So before you condemn her think for a moment about the things not
being said in the media, things irrelevant to the D.A and defense team
that are urgent to Black woman survival.
Consider for a moment the violence placed upon our bodies long before
either dancer entered that house. Consider the violence of a group of
drunken White men specifically and deceitfully requesting us as
dancers.

Huh? The "drunken White men," and black laxer, specifically requested white or hispanic strippers.

How many members and potlucks did it take to create that, um, statement. And, Cash and Co. question a change of venue.

Somebody reported (maybe the second stripper) that the lacrosse players had requested for white or Oriental strippers. I don't know if this is true or not.

What a d-bag Cash is. Nobody with any brains thinks this monstrosity is going to make it to trial. I'm sure Nifong doesent want it to, what with having the Durham PD as well as Precious on the stand either perjuring themselves or accusing him of commandeering this fraud.

But I guess we can let those potbangers have their fantasies for the next several day (or weeks).

This is starting to bite my butt.

Hark! Wasn't it three BLACK men who supposedly gang raped her when she was 14?

Double Hark! Is "My Baby's Daddy" usually black or white?

I am not painting blacks with a broad brush-I am talking about a very specific group. I think this iambecauseweare chick should quit singing kumbahya with her fellow victims and roll up her sleeves. There is much work to do and playing the perpetual victim will do nothing to help the lives of those who need it most.

It will never happen. iambecauseweare is the star of her own universe. It is always about her. precious matters only because she can use it to spotlight her own victimhood.
