ANKARA, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- U.S. F-16 jet-fighters arrived Thursday in Incirlik Air base in southern Turkish city of Adana after, the first time in three years.

According to Local Cihan News Agency, at least 16 F-16 jets joined by early warning system AWACS airplane, as well as tanker airplanes landed here at Incirlik coming from an American base in Germany.

An official at the U.S. embassy in Ankara announced that the planes arrived here for purpose of conducting exercises with the Turkish military in line with agreements between the two states.

Incirlik base was used as a northern recon base for American forces during the Iraqi war in 2003 and since then the base served as a logistic backup for the U.S. army.

Namik Tan, spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also confirmed that the U.S. planes arrived for exercises' purposes. (end) tk.

Only a moron would announce ALL their upcoming military plans in a "change of direction" speech. I think W has a few high-result-oriented strategic plans before this war is over.

Hi mystery. Prayers for your loved ones as the build up continues. Meanwhile, those embarrassing California witches, Pelosi and Boxer, are worried about ending smoking in the Capitol bldg., and Condi's lack of an "immediate" family.

This time the stakes are enormously more dangerous. It's Iran's nukes which will empower them to swallow Iraq whole and have the Shiites threatening the all the Sunni regimes including Turkey's.

FNC, a few days ago, said that B2s bombed the insurgents east of Baghdad, however, I saw B1s on the accompanying video. I don't know if FOX was confused or let the cat out of the bag.

It was 2 B1-B's, easy to mess up the delivery of that news. The big story was it was the first time ever we needed more firepower than a single B1-B could carry.

We need to capture the western oil fields, use tactial nukes on suspected nuclear facilities, and attempt to take out the Iranian leaders by using carpet bombing.

If the Iranian leaders still do survive and the government does not fall, we can sign a cease fire with no fly zone over certain parts of Iran.

Indeed, the timing is interesting, I noticed that earlier too.

Also, yesterday I noticed this very interesting article on Consortium News :

"At a not-for-quotation pre-speech briefing on Jan. 10, George W. Bush and his top national security aides unnerved network anchors and other senior news executives with suggestions that a major confrontation with Iran is looming."

....

NBC’s Washington bureau chief Tim Russert said “there’s a strong sense in the upper echelons of the White House that Iran is going to surface relatively quickly as a major issue – in the country and the world – in a very acute way.”

Hey, we haven't done something like this since the 80s.
Something must be up.

Let's see, F117's going into South Korea, a second battle group in the Middle East, the rolling up of AQ in the horn of Africa, President Bush's decision to surge troops to settle things in Baghdad and now a flock of F-16 w/ support settling into Turkey, etc, etc, etc

Hum, on second thought nothing unusual going on. NOT

Thanks a lot for the clarification.

Yup, we don't need no fire power for no stinkin' insurgents. We need it for the towel heads in Tehran, that's for sure.

Probably enough to capture Iran's western oil fields in tact.

Interesting thought process. Catch the oil fields and play defense against all Iranian forces that come against them.

Choke off Iran's money supply and the nuke plans go to dust.
