2006 Income Taxes: Check "NO"
Sir Hailstone

FReeper Activism:
When doing my taxes for this year, I was clicking the boxes on my electronic tax preparation software. I came to the section whether I wanted $3 of my taxes to go towards the Presidential Election Campaign. Right at that moment, I had FNC on the TV and I heard the shrill voice of ... you guessed it .. HILLARY CLINTON!!! The very thought of Hillary even potentially getting ANY amount of MY tax dollars to run for President was enough to make me cringe.
I clicked "NO". Don't have your tax dollars support Hillary, Osama, or any other 'Rat. Donate DIRECTLY to the candidate of your choice.

I always check no, but that will not impact hillary. She has already declined federal matching funds because it would impose limits on what she can raise and spend.

If it was a three way race between Ronald Reagan, George Patton, and Winston Churchill I'd still check "no".

I've always wondered why anyone would ever check yes.

I always check No also. But this year I wonder if it would help Duncan Hunter if I checked Yes.

I've always checked "no". I'd rather donate $3 to the candidate of my choice.

I was not aware of that.

I'll admit I just kinda by default checked "yes" I figure it wasn't costing me any more.. that was before I became enlightened by becoming a FReeper.

Don't give 'em your tax dollars. It only encourages them.

When this raid on the Treasury started, the check-off was for $1. Unfortunately there was only a box to mark YES. There was no option to indicate NO!
Some successful court action had the court ORDERING the IRS to add a box for the NO option. The first year of this raid had the highest taxpayer participation (28%) checking the YES box.
After the court ordered correction, the participation dropped sharply. (Did the IRS check YES on those returns which were left blank?)
The participation continued to drop every year. This lack of support for publically funding campaigns for the Presidential Election caused the Congress in 1993 (both Rs & Ds) to raise the check-off from $1 to $3. This permitting raiding the public cash register to the tune of $75 million/year insted of the $25 million. Also there is a priority system in the event of a short fall.
1. THE POLITICAL CONVENTIONS
2. THE GENERAL ELECTION
3. THE PRIMARY ELECTION
So with the public participation down to 10%, how long will it be before the pimps of the election industry raise the check-off to $5 or $10 or whatever amount they would like to extract from the public cash register.
For the last Presidential Election Cycle, more than $250 million were taken to feed the pimps of the election industry. Don't look for the media to discuss this because they received most of the money in advertisement revenues!

I wonder if the IRS has ever released a count of how many dolts have checked that box from year to year.
To: Sir Hailstone
"I was not aware of that."B. Hussein Obama also stated that he will decline federal matching funds ... after Hillary did so first.

[I always check "No"...]
I file my tax return multiple times just so I can vote "No" repeatedly.
