Perhaps Mr. McCain wants US to kick more ass and take even more names off the roll of the opposition. Easy enough.
Can Do.
Personally, I think Mr. McCain should take his gigolo self back to Arizona, and sip Budweiser with his bootleggin' in-laws.
At least my family were honorable and crafted Moonshiners.

I'm not a McCain supporter, but what he says is true. Do you know what a propoganda victory this would give to the Dems and the anti-war crowd, even if they lost. If anything, it would give the Dems the edge in 08. FWIW

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, in an attempt to get back on the media's good side, said in pandering on Monday he fears an offensive by Iraqi insurgents similar to the Tet offensive by the Viet Cong that sent U.S. casualties soaring in Vietnam nearly 40 years ago. He hopes that by adding his voice to the nattering masses who continue to compare Iraq to Viet Nam he'll get some camera face time. And that, he admits, is something he desperately needs if he's to get back in a serious position as a candidate for the U.S. Presidency.

The stupid POS should be more concerned about the insurgents/illegals who are on the streets of America, instead of joining ranks with that slime ball Ted Kennedy to give us the most disastrous piece of legislation ever in the history of America. He needs to be sent to the gallows along with that fat, drunk, murderer, Ted Kennedy!!

McCain was a POW during the entire Tet Offensive, so his first source of information about it were his North Vietnamese captors. I wonder what ideas about it they might have put into his brain.

You know, some large-scale tact that could then switch American public opinion the way that the Tet Offensive did," the Arizona senator said. ...

I guess he missed the '06 election. Our treasonous press is more than halfway there.

I certainly hope the little towelheads choose to try their own Shia/Sunni/al-Qaeda version of the Tet Offensive. Please come out of hiding and try it!! Come on you little hooligans, come out and play in the open with the big boys and see how well you hold up.

The Tet offensive hurt the Viet Cong very badly. Its too bad that there was a magic line that prevented us from then going after the North Vietnamese who drove the war after that point.

McCain is absolutely right.

Tet was a decisive victory.

The Viet Cong were never again operational, it took the north 4 years to launch another offensive.

Because of political considerations, it was the turning point that led to the north's victory over the south.

I don't think they can do it, but if Iran can launch an offensive that puts American casualties into the hundreds over multiple weeks, they may be able to win this battle, for Iraq. The war will be ongoing.

Tet, a massive invasion in 1968 of South Vietnam by Communist North Vietnamese, inflicted enormous losses on U.S. and South Vietnamese troops and is regarded as a point where public sentiment turned sharply against the war.

I just did a research paper over this for a Mass Communications Class I took last semester, and that statement is a load of BS. The negative swing for the war was overwhelming after Tet because Walter Cronkite did his "Report for Viet Nam". After being briefed by several US commanders, including Westmooreland, that the VC had been defeated and that the NVA was no longer capable of conducting offensive operations "Uncle Walt" went on there air and claimed, "No matter how noble our cause may have been, the US can no longer achieve the goals we set out to accomplish".

It is historic because it was the day the MSM took Democracy away from the American people, we can all thank the left for that.

McCain is quite the liberal. He fears a “Tet Offensive”, so he must fear that the Jihadists will come out into the open and be killed in the thousands - breaking the back of Jihadist terrorism in Iraq.
In the months following the ‘68 Tet Offensive in Viet Nam, the biggest problem we had was finding the enemy. Nearly all were either dead or fled the country.
