Karen loved animals. Unfortunately the cheetahs betrayed her trust," Libot said.
Somehow I don't think the Cheetah got that memo on the trust thing.
Bad Bongo!

Karen was just following Al Gore's advice to reduce her carbon footprint. Not many are as dedicated to the environment as Karen,... although we wish they would be.

Animal rights group GAIA called for the immediate closure of the zoo, located 55 miles northeast of Brussels, saying it was unsafe for both visitors and the cats.Um, the cats were fine.

Reminds me of a peace corps mauling story.
The setting is some tropical 3rd world country. A couple of Peace Corps types go to the local river to take a swim. One local told them they had better not since the river contained crocs and they couldn't watch out for them with only two people. To which one of the Peace Corps types said "It's Ok, we're in the Peace Corps". Like that is some magical ward against nature or something?!?!??! Much to no one's surprise(except theirs), one of them didn't make it back to shore alive.

"An animal lover was mauled to death by cheetahs after entering their cage at a zoo in northern Belgium, authorities and zoo officials said Monday. Why people believe that wild, vicious, predatory cats and other such beasts are safe to interact with is beyond me. (Maybe it was suicide by chetahs?)
