Gosh, I sure hope no one makes him wear panties on his head. Piano wire around his neck would be good though.

On the other big news ...the defecting Iranian....Hattip to the Mudville Gazette:

Secret Network Helped Iranian Defector

***************************************

March 9, 2007

Secret Network Helped Iranian Defector

Apparently, Gen. Ali Reza Asghari's Feb. 7 disappearance at a hotel in Istanbul days after his wife and other family members left Iran for a purported vacation was neither a kidnapping nor a mystery; it occurred with the help of a well-organized Iranian dissident group and experts say more defectors are on the way as opposition to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad increases within Iran. And it seems that more are planned:

The group is currently negotiating with Western intelligence agencies from a hideout somewhere in Europe for a permanent place of exile, sources said.

The United States and Israel, fingered by Iran's police chief as Asghari's kidnappers, have issued carefully worded denials that their governments were involved.

Tehran regards Asghari's defection as a disaster.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg," said Walid Phares, an expert in Iranian-backed Shiite terrorism.

"Opposition to Ahmadinejad is growing inside Iran."

Asghar's defection is nothing less than a devastating blow for Iran. The leading Arab international daily, asharq alawsat, reports that a source who is a close friend of Asghari says the former Iranian Deputy Defense Minister has military and intelligence documents and maps about Iran's military institution and others revealing relations between the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad in Palestine, al Mahdi army and the Badr organization (formerly Badr Brigade) which follows the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI).

Is it possible that what Turkish security sources believe is true, that Mr Asghari has knowledge of Iran's nuclear work, in spite of Iran's claims to the contrary?

What remains to be determined is whether or not the information Asghari has and what he says is true, and can it somehow be collaborated. Is he a bona fide defector or is he a human instrument of al-taqiyya?

Seems like the confirmation is coming from a jihadist web site which could be blowing smoke, as well as an unnamed offical close to Maliki and a captured jihadist that claims it is the guy.
I'll wait for the official news from a reputable source, before I raise a Coors Extra Gold lager up on this one. Then again. Perhaps I should be carefull on that one. Only got three cans left in the box.

I have done the research years before 9/11 came about. At the same time, some of them working in isolation from the mob in professional positions where completely honest about most things in general. Some I know cried out in the eightees to me about how Iraq was a terrible place to live, and how they got their families out. I ate with them at lunch, worked with them on projects. Both Arab as well as Iranian and one guy we called camel breath who was from Afghanistan. Man he had some rotten teeth, and his breath would lay you over, but he was a real nice person.
At the same time I had a neighbor who was an Arab from Lebanon. He was sociable as well as fair. But in retrospec I don't know if I would still trust him after 9/11 came about. He was rather limp after the Operation Desert Storm showed the world how easy we had of kicking their asses.
Of course I no longer live where I did, so do not know how he has been taking things since OIFI started. He may have gone off the deep end by now.
In any case. Hopefully Baghadadi has been captured and soon will be doing a lot of heavy breathing as they pump him for his organizations locations.

WOODLAND HILLS, CALIFORNIA (ANS) -- One of the top Islamic leaders in Iran accepted Christ and left the country after facing death threats and imprisonment, according to an Iranian pastor living in the U.S.

“This man has been watching Christian TV programs for the past two years,” said Pastor Elnathan Baghestani, founder of Iran for Christ Ministries. (www.iranforchrist.com) Pastor Baghestani and his wife provide Christian programming to the Mohabat Network satellite, which broadcasts 24/7 into Iran and other Middle Eastern countries.

"Iraqi forces captured...Iraqi forces captured...".

If verified, how much of this will be in the Western media??

But it will be a fact. And those U. S. troops who have served there will not be surprised. The Iraqi forces can be the best - and the bravest. Those from the U. S. and allied countries who have served there know this to be true.

System isn't allowing posting of new articles,...at least mine...News:

U.S. captures 33 suspects; al-Qaida figure, but not al-Baghdadi, arrested

********************AN EXCERPT******************************

BAGHDAD (AP) - U.S.-led raids captured 33 suspects overnight across Iraq, while Iraqi authorities on Saturday questioned a suspected al-Qaida leader captured a day earlier west of Baghdad.

The suspect in Iraqi custody was originally identified as terror mastermind Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, but officials later said he was another top al-Qaida leader.

"After preliminary investigations, it was proven that the arrested al-Qaida person is not Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, but, in fact, another important al-Qaida official," said Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Mousawi, an Iraqi military spokesman. "Interrogations and investigations are still under way to get more information."

Al-Mousawi declined to give the suspect's name on Saturday.

It was al-Mousawi who announced late Friday that al-Baghdadi had been captured. A senior adviser to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki also had told The Associated Press that al-Baghdadi had been taken into custody. The adviser spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.

Al-Mousawi said the suspect at first identified himself as al-Baghdadi, and that his identity was corroborated by another man captured with him. The reported arrest followed rumours this week that al-Baghdadi's brother had been arrested in a raid near Tikrit.

Almost nothing is known of al-Baghdadi, including his real name and what he looks like; his capture would be difficult for officials to verify.

He is believed to lead the shadowy Islamic State of Iraq, an al-Qaida-inspired group that challenged the authority of Iraq's elected government. He has also signed militant messages posted online, as the leader of the Mujahedeen Shura Council - an umbrella group that includes al-Qaida in Iraq.

An alleged member of the Islamic State of Iraq was captured along with 17 other suspects early Saturday in another raid in Taji, an area on the northern outskirts of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement. Another man was killed in the raid.

The Taji operation was the largest of several U.S.-led raids across Iraq late Friday and early Saturday, in which 33 people were arrested, the military said.

The raids targeted al-Qaida in Iraq and locals accused of providing support to the terror group, it said.

In Baghdad's Sadr City neighbourhood, Iraqi special forces teams backed by U.S. soldiers detained six suspects believed to be a rogue members of the Mahdi Army, the U.S. military said in another statement.

The suspects were accused of co-ordinating and carrying out kidnappings and murders of Iraqi civilians, the statement said.

The Mahdi Army is a powerful Shiite militia led by anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Eight suspects were captured in Mosul, 360 kilometres northwest of Baghdad, and one man was arrested in Ramadi, 115 kilometres west of Baghdad, a statement said.
