An Ohio woman is steaming after reading an anti-God message published on the side of a Starbucks coffee cup.
The message that got Michelle Incanno's blood boiling reads:
"Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance? Why not search inside ourselves for the power to overcome? After all, we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophes we need to endure."
Michelle Incanno of Springboro, Ohio, holds a cup part of Starbucks' 'The Way I See It' campaign (Dayton Daily News)
The quote was written by Bill Schell, a Starbucks customer from London, Ontario, Canada, and was included as part of an effort by the Seattle-based coffee giant to collect different viewpoints and spur discussion.
"As someone who loves God, I was so offended by that," Michelle Incanno, a married mother of three who is Catholic, told the Dayton Daily News. "I don't think there needs to be religious dialogue on it. I just want coffee."
I don’t think even the Almighty could help Starbucks lousy brew.
“we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophes we need to endure”
?????
(I never go in StarBucks anyway.)
Barista, there’s crap in my coffee....
Notwithstanding the principle axioms of logic - inexplicable in a Godless universe - enabled this misguided person to write those words in the first place.
Ah, the fool says in his heart...
Who in their right mind would pay $4.00 for a cup of coffee when you can get it for free at work.
Starbucks coffee isn’t all that great and is way too expensive. That’s reason enough for me not to buy their products.
I don’t know if there’s a political agenda with Starbucks, but you know there are some possible quotes that would have been censored.
Anything saying that a woman’s place is in the home, for example, would be nixed.
Anything talking about family values or marriage and children would be taken out so as not to offend the same sex marriage diversity crowd.
We can all think of others. The point is - of course Starbucks is using editorial judgement or even censorship.
I wouldn’t go to Starbucks anyway.
Idiot treehuggers that live in this neck of the woods, that’s who!
Then obviously she picked the wrong place to get coffee.
Go ahead and boycott, my feelings won't be hurt at all.
After all, we are strong enough to cause most of the catastrophes we need to endure.
Yes, catastrophes like the inane cliché laden pontification of Canadian philosopher, Bill Schell.
I tried Community Coffee and was not impressed, to me Eight O’Clock is better.
Nah he mis spoke.
God bless America!
Doesn’t seem like much to get fired-up over. You either like their outlook on politics, religion, social issues, etc... or you don’t. (I don’t)
Then you make a personal choice whether you wish to patronze them or not. (I choose not to)
Frankly, some of the crap WND picks up is just embarassing.
I just need coffee in the AM. My wife insists on Dunkin Donut’s.
