I found this website in April 2006. I called Martinez's office and asked for explaination as to why the Senator had broken his campaign promise. I looked for it again and the webpage was "down for maintenance." Thank goodness for cache!

That is exactly the plan that I have been advocating on FR. Strong control of the borders and temporary working visas for the illegal immigrant already here with no path to citizenship.

I oppose amnesty for illegal aliens.

Martinez will simply bleat that the bill isn't amnesty. Like Bush and other pubbie sellouts.

This is NOT a nation of immigrants. My parents and their parents were born here. I’m so sick and tired of that pat phrase to justify the destruction of our nation. There are immigrants and native-born people. I’m native-born (you might say I’m a native-American at the risk of being P In-C)

Thanks! I e-mailed the senator yesterday asking that the rule of law be respected and enforced in regards to the immigration issue. Great find!

Freepers are posting on the Florida board to call Martinez’ office about the immigration issue.

I have not kept up with the issue:

What did he vote and what shall we do?

Martinez & Barack HUSSEIN Obama

Martinez Attacks Immigrant Restrictions, 10/14/2005

CHAMBLEE, Ga. -- Florida Sen. Mel Martinez, the first Cuban-American elected to the U.S. Senate, said Friday he was teaming up with the only black member of the chamber to introduce an immigration enforcement bill.

Martinez, a Republican, said he expected to announce the details of the bill later this month with Democratic Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois.

"Immigration is something that we got to get fixed," Martinez told a crowd of Georgia's Hispanic government and business leaders in the northern Atlanta suburb.

"First and foremost, we've got to do border enforcement," he said. "Then we got to have a worker program. There are people that are here that this economy absolutely needs — there's nothing wrong with that."

Here ya go folks. He took this page off his site but this is the link for the web archive of his site during the 2004 campaign. We Florida members should all email Senator Martinez regarding this broken campaign promise and give him the link.
