Sources close to the Thompson campaign have passed along the following first-day results for ImWithFred.com:
Averaged close to 1,500 people per hour signing up as friends
Averaged $12,000 per hour in contributions
Raised more than $220,000 dollars via the website
Seen just under half of the Friends send a message to others asking them to sign up or give.
We'll see what traffic measuring services like Alexa say in a day or so, but this has to be considered a powerful shot across the bow.
Wait till the cash starts rolling in from the sources his political connections get him. And his wife will certainly help too.
I predict he has NO problem.
I know he’s already got millions lined up from several orgs in SoCal.
Yeah, overt electioneering is frowned upon here, as I understand it, but I think most of us will be able to find it.
By the way, very apropros handle. Fred’s getting bombarded with money, just like we all predicted.
Have you seen this site? Or did I just miss it before?

I’m waiting till he officially announces !!!
How does this compare with those 2nd tier group? Any idea?
I getchya.....but $220K, while it would buy a nice house in most states, is wholly unimpressive these days concerning presidential elections. Hillary, Obama, and Mitt and maybe even Rudy rake in that much every day.
I thought Fred was gonna wait until the 3Q to start fundraising so he doesn’t look bad when he turns in small numbers for 2Q vs the rest of the pack.....guess we’ll see how his 3Q numbers look.
Yes, WOW. in 18 hours, he raised almost a quarter mil. At this rate, he’ll have $100 million in 341 days, and by the time the first primaries hit, he’ll have already garnered $70-80 million.....at the present rate.
And keep in mind, that rate will only increase when he formally joins the race. And it will also only increase when other, more traditional, fundraising venues begin to work their magic for Thompson ‘08.
So, yes, I’d say WOW.
The one day record is 1.2 million that Kerry raised in 04. McCain raised 1 million in one day also.
The difference is that they had won primaries first. Kerry got his after winning big on Super Tuesday and McCain did his right after winning New Hampshire in 2000.
I’m betting this is at least on pace to be a record breaker of some kind, but it won’t be the most ever. However, I’d bet on Fred smashing those records as he sees success in the primaries.
Persistent little gnat.
Yet at the same time, we are hearing what a "threat" liberaltarian RINO Paul is because he has raised slightly more in the past two weeks.
On the GOP side, McCain, the presumed front-runner, raised the least of the major candidates and had $5.2 million remaining. Sen. Sam Brownback (Kan.) had about $807,000, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee roughly $374,000, Rep. Duncan Hunter (Calif.) $273,000, and former Wisconsin governor Tommy G. Thompson about $140,000. Former Virginia governor James S. Gilmore III banked just $90,000.
Ouch, I wanna move to your state. Here in SoCal it might buy you a nice dump at the local trailer park.
How’d you know I like carping?? Got a 30lb one on my fly rod last week. Helluva fight.
If you do the math, $220K is nothing....less than a blip. That’s what the rest took in every day for the 2nd quarter. Bill’s giving a $2300 per person speech today and I’ll bet his wife’s speaking to more than 100 people.
Oops...forgot the goggles....ah yes...nowIk see...$220K is EVERYthing. How impressive.....
As long as it's still an "exploratory committee", the donations do not have to be reported in a quarterly report. Those donations will have to be reported once he goes "official".
That doesn't stop the campaign from releasing info when it's to their benefit.
Could have fooled me.
How many post (most repeats) saying Rudy, Mitt, or R*N P&^L (he who shall not be named lest you incur the wrath of his fanatic minions for not saying he is the greatest thing since...WHACK, I digress) won the debate and is the second coming? Those post are not deleted.
I post an article from another web site saying how that blogger had found out how to donate and it gets deleted.
And as I said in a previous post, it would asinine to assume that contributions made through the web page were the primary source of money he's raising, let alone all of it.
Of course it is. Don’t let the facts get in the way of ElectricStrawberry’s asshattery.
