If those are Byrd’s words, I agree with each and every one, except I would suspect the number is something greater than 12 million. If Byrd’s words are sincere, I can honestly say I support him on this, and will attribute it to the stopped clock doctrine. More likely than not, I suspect Byrd is speaking for the unions, and would change his song if the next SB included provisions for construction of the Department of Commerce’s Robert Byrd Center for Yard and Garage Sale Administration.

How can his staff put up with this?

There’s no way that Lott’s interns and paid assistants could possibly support him anymore. They must feel the heat every day form the public, and then have to explain things to an angry senator... I can’t imagine what it’s like.

If talk shows really ran the country, we’d all be great Americans.

“Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

What's the solution, Senator? Radio Burnings?

Sen Lott thinks we all work for him and do his bidding. He needs to be fired.

‘Yes, and the internet is slowing these “good ole boys” down. They don’t like it because the info is moving at light-speed and they can’t get their doctored spin out fast enough.’

Exactly. He’s too old to adapt to the new reality.

Senator Lott is really unhappy with "talk radio"

Trent knuckles under (again!) to "progressives," liberals, traditional America haters, and assorted self-appointed mandarins of all stripes.

Keep on truckling, Trent. It's what you do.

An informed citizenry is the government’s worst nightmare. The federal bureaucrats need to do the following to keep up the status quo in the face of scrutiny:

1. Slowly disarm the citizens - critical in the event that 2-5 fail.

2. Compile as much information as possible on all citizens (health, firearm ownership, income, political views, employment information, travel history, phone records, etc - it takes a village, we can’t be too safe, and if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to hide!), using whatever pretext is most convenient.

3. Regulate the media, including print, tv, and especially talk radio (with the FCC, Fairness Doctrine, CFR, hate speech codes, etc) to control the flow of information.

4. Regulate the internet (using Net Neutrality to get their foot in the door) to control the flow of information and to better track personal communication.

5. Ensure that a plurality of the voting population grows dependent upon government entitlements, and use democracy as a tool to strangle liberty in ways additional to the above. Democracy is a hedge for retaining power.

Not chilling, but THRILLING.

He is afraid, and upset that the Internet and talk radio now know exactly what is in the bills they pass.

Since the MSM HAVE REFUSED TO INFORM US FOR THE LAST 40 YEARS!

Trent Lott is a petty vindictive would-be tyrant who has forfeited all legitimacy. He is a problem which must be dealt with.

‘Thank God. Hopefully we can get him out of there before he starts dropping leaflets from the Hindenburg.’

Or he finds another member of the Confederate States that didn’t want their citizenship restored....LOL!

I must say though, hearing a sitting U.S. Senator so clearly threaten the freedom of speech and dissent as his comment does, is a chilling thing.

Almost as bad as, "There ought to be limits to freedom of speech."

As is the majority of the Senate, (as I have complained for 25 years), lol, it is good to see them exposed, and now if only their lazy voters who return them to office year after year after year after year after year..................., will support a primary candidate, and get involved in the primary process.

Which has been sorely lacking in the last decades.

>>Does anyone think it’s possible Lott might actually support the Fairness Doctrine in order to “deal with the problem” of talk radio?

Yes, I do. And it would clear up a lot of problems for GWB, too.

“See you at the signing”

If talk radio is running America, why is the RAT party in control of congress?

Actually, to make it a fair debate (fight) Rush would probably have to leave most of his brain with the secretary before beginning the talk with Lott.
