NOW PELOSI IS CHIMING IN

Yesterday Nancy Pelosi joined several other prominent Capitol Hill Democrats like John Kerry in calling for a revival of the Fairness Doctrine. She also said that a bill introduced into the House to wipe the Fairness Doctrine off the face of the map "wouldn't make it to the floor."

Then, after Pelosi's remarks, the House proceeded to pass an amendment which would prohibit the FCC from reviving the fairness doctrine. How would this happen? Cut the funds ... take away the money. It prevents FCC funds from being used to reinstate this liberal excuse for "fairness."

Yes, I am not making this up. Surrounding the current whoop-la over "fairness" on the airwaves, the House passed the amendment 309-115. It is attached to the Financial Services Appropriations bill. This is the same bill that David Obey, the democratic chair of the Appropriations Committee, tried to improperly sneak in millions of dollars in earmarks ... exactly what Democrats said they would fight this Congressional term.

The amendment was sponsored by Representative Mike Pence of Indiana. But he's not done yet. He wants to make sure – absolutely sure – that this is a permanent change. That's why he is also sponsoring the Broadcasters Freedom Act. It prohibits the FCC from making any rules, regulation or policies that would reinstate fairness quotas. It also says that the FCC and any future President can't reinstate the doctrine.

Did you hear that Hillary? Blab away with as many liberals (on as many elevators) as you'd like ... but, if this bill passes, there is no way you are going to "deal" with talk radio – not without a new law.

David Obey, our protector of the earmark, responded to the House vote by saying, "This issue is much ado about nothing." Now apparently Obey hasn't been riding in any Congressional elevators in the past couple years. He hasn't heard the whispers and mounting pressure to end talk radio, which is apparently running America. No, Mr. Obey – this is a very big deal. The free flow of information to the American people is a very big deal. Freedom of the press is a big deal. OK, so our founding fathers didn't foresee broadcasting. Perhaps its time to include broadcasting in the First Amendment. Now THAT would be a big deal.

Between the defeat of the amnesty bill, the passage of this amendment, and the hope for the Broadcasters Freedom Act, there would appear to be much to celebrate. Remember, though, we still have the Senate to deal with. Let's see what Hillary, John and Ted have to say about this, then we'll talk. In the meantime, I guess the Senators better brush up on their knowledge of the Fairness Doctrine (Senator Voinovich, that means you in particular!). Then again, talk radio apparently knows more about what is going on in the Congress than its own representatives. Don't worry, we'll keep you in line and informed and in touch with the American people – you know ... those people who just happen to decide whether or not you keep your job. (emphasis supplied)

They can’t compete, so as true Socialists, they suppress.

Pelosi is many things - primarily being the consummate poster child for cosmetic surgery gone awry, but being a leader, thinker, and protector of the United States is not on her TO DO list.

Pelosi is a socialist hack...just check her background and record with the Progressive Caucus in the Congress. While Hillary has her beat, in terms of hard Marxism, she runs a close second. The thought of these two in power together is beyond a nightmare for America, that Karl Marx would be proud of....

The bottom line is this; conservative talk radio is wildly popular, liberal talk radio is a dismal failure. No surprises there. Therefore, in all fairness, the winners must be suppressed so the losers don’t feel as badly about their failed lives and accomplishments. Makes perfect sense to me.

It’s all part of that liberal altered reality thing, donchaknow.

Democrats like John Kerry in calling for a revival of the Fairness Doctrine

So what? - republicans like me are calling for a revival of the public hanging of such officals.

Sounds as though Pelosi is attempting to ape Hugo Chavez.

If we are to have fairness, let us start with PUBLICALLY funded NPR. They have become Air America lite with no conservative or even mildly right of center point of view ever expressed.

They can't compete, so they want government control of their bankrupt shows in order to bypass the dispicable free market and make money off the sweat of us common laborers anyway.

It also says that the FCC and any future President can't reinstate the doctrine.

One Congress cannot constrain the actions of a future Congress without a treaty or constitutional amendment.

The bad news is that Democrats control Congress.

The good news is it's being lead by Pelosi and Reid.

Oh no, Nancy. Don’t make us put someone like, say, Geraldo Rivera on Fox News!
However, on this whole “fairness” thing in media, let’s talk . . .
starting with:
Major providers of television news:
ABC
CBS News
CNN
NBC News

Major newspapers include:
New York Times
Los Angeles Times
USA Today
The Wall Street Journal
Washington Post

Major news magazines:
Newsweek
TIME
U.S. News & World Report

Public sector news media
The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) is a non-profit public broadcasting television service with 349 member TV stations in the United States. PBS was founded in 1969, at which time it took over many of the functions of its predecessor, National Educational Television (NET).

We’re sure we can work something out Nan.

That is exactly what I am thinking. There is no way without a constitutional amendment, that ANYTHING can be permanently taken off the table.

I still remember a professor (who was a superlib) teaching us social studies back in 8th grade. He asked us a thought question -”How long is a treaty good for?” We went around for a good while until he told the answer -”Until someone breaks it.”

Let’s demand an hour of prime time conservative news broadcast on ABC, CBS, and NBC. Also major news publications across the nation have to contain articles from the Washington Times and not just the NY Times or Washington compost.

The majority, if not all, of members of the Progressive Caucus are also a members of the Dermocratic Socialists of America, the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International, a federation of socialist, social democratic, democratic socialist and labour parties and organizations.
