I agree she should be shot, but more likely her comment meant or stated that she forgot she had her child in the car, not that she forgot she had a child at all. Only a mentally ill woman could possibly forget about the pain of childbearing.
Possibly the baby was disabled and she was trying to take the “easy” way out? There was a CSI like that once.
Not fat, but “heavy set” or “big boned” as they say.......Needless to say it was a shock to her and her husband and the rest of the family too!.........
Definitely a prime candidate for Darwin Awards.
“wreckless engangerment” pingaroonie
The driving distance between Seattle and Spokane is 280 miles.Seattle is on the liberal side of the state and Spokane is on the conservative side of the state
While I’d prefer thinking that a woman could not be so self-absorbed or absent-minded as to leave her child to bake like a ‘tater in the sun, I must admit I’d find that more believeable in this case if she didn’t have the BABY CARRIER with her in the store.
“people waited...?”
Of course they did. Jerks like this “mother” would have sued them for damaging her car, which is apparently more valuable than the child.
This reminds me of a story....
When my oldest boy was about five years old, he played in the room as a discussion took place between my sisters, myself and my mother.
We talked about a cousin who had recently lost a baby to miscarriage.
My five year old “little picture with big ears” piped up, “How can someone LOSE a baby?”
We laughed at the time....this incidence shows it wasn’t as ridiculous as we thought.
One of my cousins some years ago once inadvertently left her baby in the carseat on the hood of the car and nearly drove off (fortunately, she saw the carseat, snapped back into reality and retrieved the baby before any harm done). I suppose it can happen to anyone — too many things on the mind (this was what happened to my cousin) and maybe not enough help to deal with the baby or something. You may be right that this is what happened in this case.
But recently, here in Pittsburgh, we had five children perish in a fire...mothers went out drinking and left the children home alone. Then last night a child was found wandering alone out in the street of a dangerous neighborhood. Child apparently got out of the house or apartment and wandered off. The kicker was that it took the mother hours to finally call the police and report her child missing. I dunno....just seems to me that we have far too many parents “forgetting” they have children. I’m just skeptical about this whole situation.
I'm not buying this argument at all. My wife and I were young when we married and raised four children. We spent a lot of time around many other young parents as well. You Do Not forget that you have a baby in your car/vehicle (especially when it is hot outside) unless you are irresponsible. I'd hazard to guess that this woman has a history of making irresponsible decisions prior to having this child. And, yes, she should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law for this irresponsible act that could result in the death of a baby.
Depressing, isn't it?
Did he ever get his memory back?
I probably over reacted, but I just can’t tolerate people who hurt children whether or not it was unintentional. I have 5 grandchildren, one of which is an infant. I just can’t imagine leaving her or any of the kids in the car while I shop!
There was a case in California year back where a mother placed a baby in the backseat of her husband’s car for him to take the baby to a childcare center (a task the mother usually did). I don’t recall the reason, but the father went straight to work (this was in summer) without taking the child to the childcare center. The baby was left in the car all day and died from heat stroke. The father either forgot he was suppose to take the baby to the childcare center or did not realize he was expected to (I forget which). I could understand how that might happen, but not when a parent places the child into their own vehicle and goes shopping. This is a case of irresponsibility on the part of this woman.

OROFINO, Idaho — A 33-year-old Idaho woman has been arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony injury to a child after a 15-month-old boy was found dead in a locked car in temperatures approaching 100 degrees.
Rita Johnston, the child’s stepgrandmother, remained in the Clearwater County Jail on $15,000 bond Thursday.
Clearwater County Prosecutor Clayne Tyler said an investigation showed that the child was in the car for about five hours when passers-by noticed him and called authorities. The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
LOL! Thanks for a Friday laugh.
