Romney: Hezbollah role model for U.S.

By Aaron Klein © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com Mitt Romney JERUSALEM – Republican presidential candidate Gov. Mitt Romney has cited the social welfare network of the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group as a role model the U.S. should copy to help promote "goodness" and "freedom" around the world. Sections of Hezbollah's social welfare network, including schools and camps, are routinely used by the terror group to indoctrinate students in anti-Israel propaganda, instruct in military tactics and promote Shiite Islamic beliefs, including the waging of a final, apocalyptic world battle against "evil." The former Massachusetts governor this weekend was asked during a campaign stop in Iowa whether he would renew President Bush's $50 million campaign to combat AIDS in Africa. Romney said he would and then proceeded to explain the U.S. should aspire to implement the kind of social action network carried out in recent years by Hezbollah. The Romney campaign has not responded to WND's request for comment. (Story continues below) In remarks caught on camera by C-SPAN, Romney stated, "Did you notice in Lebanon what Hezbollah did? Lebanon became a democracy some time ago, and while their government was getting under way, Hezbollah went into southern Lebanon and provided health clinics to some of the people there, and schools. "And they (Hezbollah) built their support there by having done so. That kind of diplomacy is something that would help America become stronger around the world and help people understand that our interest is an interest towards modernity and goodness and freedom for all people in the world. And so, I want to see America carry out that kind of health diplomacy." Hezbollah the past few years has helped built a civilian infrastructure in southern Lebanon – largely funded by Iran – that includes schools, health clinics and even inexpensive apartment buildings.

Hezbollah is an islamofascist, Nazi inspired terrorist organization, totalitarian completely...sponsorship and the mere suggestion of legitimacy by an American candidate for the Presidency should be abhorrent to every American, and suggests the illegitimacy of the Rep party as a representative for the stewardship for the interests, history, traditions, and constitutional republican form of govt..it is not that I am in favor of socialism either...our country would have been better without its usherance in in the '30s...just an old geezers thoughts..be sure to read this one in full..eom

So, Romney wants to copy certain aspects of Hezbollah and Obama wants to invade Pakistan. Seems like the field of Presidential candidates will soon be narrowing.

Romney needs to go away. He is the worst possible candidate for the Republicans. No core values.

He should prove he is not a dumb Mitt and back away from this statement. Doesn’t Hezbollah support suicide bombers?

How many billions do we already spend on foreign aid? Where does all that money go? I’m betting most of that $$$ ends up in the pockets of the ruling elites and wannabe dictators.

Instead of proposing more giveaways, courtesy of the American taxpayer, Presidential candidates should propose tax cuts, so that individuals can contribute to charities that support good works in other countries, if they so choose.

He sounds a bit like that senator a while back, was it Patty Murray, that said that Osama Bin Laden was popular because he built daycare centers, hospitals, and infrastructure.

Attacking the messenger is a time-tested tactic. Doesn’t work when the message speaks for itself.

The problem with health diplomacy is that it leads to starving masses. Africa already has the fastest growing population in the world. Cut the mortality rate and increase poverty.

Would you propose such an idea in the United States?..maybe even set a required age for expiration?...I vaguely recall a movie starring Michael York with such a theme...may be we both are older than the extermination age in that movie..uncontrolled immigration is also producing an increase in poverty in the US to some degree...does your African comment have potential employment here too?...eom
