How anyone can take baseball seriously is beyond my understanding.

And I can still name the starting eight for each year of the Big Red Machine of the 70’s.

I stopped going to games when they went on strike back in the early 1980’s, and haven’t attended a baseball game since.

This is just another example of why.

Way to go Selig, you destroyed your own customer base and the GAME itself.

Mo Vaughn used to wear one of Cam Neely’s elbow pads. It looked huge for the time. Compared to Bonds, it was nothing.
I thought MLB had put standards about the size of elbow pads.

Bob Gibson / Nolan Ryan / Don Drysdale would have put his butt in the dirt.

One can only hope that an “*” will always reside next to the name “Bonds” in the record books

Excuse me but isn’t this a GAME? IMHO professional sports is an oxymoron. Like professional wrestling it’s entertainment not sports. Want sports? Go watch a Little League game.

Oh please. Players have been trying to enhance their performance since the game was invented. Spikes in shoes, braces for knees and elbows, weightlifting straps for back support, vitamins, steaks, protein diets, aspirin and ibuprofin.... something new every year. Point is, you can have all that stuff, but if you haven’t got the talent, you’re gonna strike out.

Smaller ball parks. Less talent in the Majors. Thats all.

So then every hitter in baseball is free to use the same Barry Bonds "elbow armor" device? One has to wonder why they don't if it offers such an unfair hitting advantage.

A Rod seems to have made it to 500 with no need for such things as drugs and elbow hinges. Hopefully he will eclipse Bonds' record and then it will be "Barry who?"

Is there any reason that every hitter could not wear the same thing???
If it made that much difference ever big league hitter would have one of their very own.
For this to be true Bonds would have had to have been a poor hitter before he started wearing it. Bonds has been a great hitter for a long time.
Just another BS post.

If you ask me (like my advice really matters)... MLB needs to contract. The talent "pool" is stretched way too thin. And the die-hard support for some teams isn't there.

Some teams are just venues for opposing "old" school teams to show off their stripes.

For example... I went to a Tampa Devil Ray game at Tropicana Field two years ago (saw the D.R. play Baltimore and Boston)... these games were "home" games for the visitors. Must really be "fun" for the home team Rays when there are "boos" when the Ray's pitcher attempts a pick-off move to first.

Tampa held their own on the field, but they just don't seem to have the die-hard support.

Last Friday night I watched on tv the H-town Astros vs the Florida Marlins game. There must have been 4,000 total in attendance. Very much like the Expos games I saw in Montreal in '01. Brutal.

It’s amazing how many people who “don’t care” about Bonds feel the need to take time out of their busy schedules and compose posts to let us all know it. ;)

Great. Another reason to despise Barry Bonds.

I need that about as much as another reason to vote against Hillary! Rodham (Clinton).

It's not like MLB is going to do anything about it.

This is unfortunate, because by my estimate, Bonds’ front arm “armor” has contributed no fewer than 75 to 100 home runs to his already steroid-questionable total.

I'm getting tired of this. If the author wants to step his ass up to the plate and pop off the difference (655 home runs) go for it. Otherwise, shut up. Did Bonds use steroids? Don't know don't care. How would Hank Aaron have done today? Babe Ruth would have been kicked out of the league long ago for substance abuse.

I'm not looking to Bonds as some sort of idol. And if a kid does that says more about the parenting skills of the parent than whether or not Bonds is a good role model. In today's age, every player out there is doing something that makes them better and stronger than their counterparts from just 20 years ago. If the product is legally subscribed or can be purchased OTC then so be it. It doesn't detract one bit from what he's done.

A-Rod just cracked 500. Let's see what he's doing 5 years from now when he's chasing this record. And when he passes it (which he most likely will) all the naysayers of Bonds and busybodies can shut up about the 'damage' Bonds has done to the sport as the HR king.
