Paul is a strict devotee of Constitutionally limited government.

That's right, even when he's handing out taxpayer money to shrimp companies. I'm sure that's in the Constitution somewhere.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. Here’s what Newt meant. We are almost to the 6th aniversery of 9/11, yet this President wanted to grant amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens with only a 24hr background check. As Sept 11 closes in, our southern border is still wide open. Now he wants to sell 20 billion dollars of advanced weapons to the Saudis who fund the evil Wahabi sect throughout the world. Finally we still have begun to develop an energy policy that would allow us to become enery independent thus starving the economies of Iran and Saudi.

So yes, this is a phony war. Always has been.

I think Paul voted for the Afghanistan venture, but not Iraq. He makes a distinction of some sort.

That's what Newt means, certainly. If Ron Paul were to advocate moving our troops out of Iraq and into Saudi Arabia, declaring Wahhabism to be an illegal cult, holding a Nuremburg-style trial and hanging any remaining jihadists in public, then using the Saudi treasury to repair the damage that jihadism has caused all over the world, then I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately, that's not what Paul means. He would rather have us blame ourselves for being attacked and give in.

Ron Paul did not "hand out taxpayer money to shrimp companies". He made a request for his constituent to a committee chair in the form of an earmark.

Now I know why they have so many Aggie jokes_;^)

I don’t know about hatred or bile.....maybe spam.

You have no right to squash someone’s 1st amend rights just because you disagree. Personally, I’m sick of that chit going on.

Well that truly makes RP a principled politician against pork. I can see the ad now: "I don't give pork personally, I just make sure the requests for prok are passed on so the pork gets handed out by others."

The more he talks the more he resonates with the unlikeliest of people. Many US Roman Catholics for example do not accept the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive strikes because they see it as a violation of the principles of just war theory. I am sure he alienates his “neo-con opposition” to no end, but there’s a whole lot of buzz around what he’s saying and the sea change he’s calling for in foreign policy. Full ahead on his ideas, and I think we’re headed for an iceberg, but there are plenty who are so disaffected that any new idea will be a most welcome one.

If you're referring to the sudden departure of DreamsofPolycarp, I didn't report him/her to the moderator. He/she got banned based on his/her own activities. My response was to Borax Queen, who complained about the "hatred, bile, and spam" on the thread. I simply pointed out that the only truly irrational post of the whole thread at that point was from DreamsofPolycarp.

Just what it means. 1930s approaches of isolationism and pre WWII military doctrine do not fit a world were attacks against our nation can come in a matter of minutes and occur in a 3 dimensional space.

Nah, you didn’t out anyone by name or anything. You Ags can be some real asswipes.

Sorry, pal. If DreamsofPolycarp got reported to the mods, it wasn't by me. That's why I copied DreamsofPolycarp on my post, see? So he/she would know that I was discussing his/her post and could respond.

You Ags can be some real asswipes.

Now that's clear-headed, rational, logical thinking on display, for sure.

The funny & scary thing is, is that Paul can easily run as a 3rd party or independent candidate and drive a stake through the heart of the GOP.

The fact that he stated he won't says a lot about Paul's character and as even he understands that the Dims are far worse than the Republicans, even though the very same Republicans have tried to undercut him throughout his entire career.

If the GOP was smart, they'd court Paul and get his endorsement of Fred, give him a tribute or speaking engagement at the convention. Because Thompson is probably the only candidate besides Paul who understands the true meaning of the Constitution & limited government.

The first amendment doesn’t apply to discussion boards. I thought you Paulites were supposed to be so well schooled on the Constitution.

DH08 (get your facts straight) I’m sick of posters getting banned from political discourse. We’re are still in America....right?
