Chris Matthews was apparently using this Reuters report as his source, quoting "initial reports" on "attacks by two suicide bombers"-

First Lieutenant Stephen Bomar, spokesman for the 25th Infantry Division, said initial reports suggested 30 people were killed and 60 wounded in attacks by two suicide bombers.

But other reports are claiming there were four suicide bombers. It's going to take a while to get this sorted out.

Much has been made about the Iraq government taking off the month of August. Do people realize that the temperature in Bagdad is frequently from 114 to 118 in the daytime. Just look at the world weather in the larger newspapers. The bigshots may be lucky (rich) enough to have air conditioning and generators, but what about the clerks, secretaries, and other low level workers that keep the whole thing going. Transportation to and from work much be a bitch for those without an official car. Cut the poor SOB’s a little slack.

Remember, the DC summer vacation tradition for Congress was because of the hot DC summers. Of course, now there is reliable air conditioning for all, so what is their excuse now?
