Rudy Guiliani Warns Of Palestinian State (Breaks With Bush On Middle East Policy Alert)

Republican 2008 White House front-runner Rudolph Giuliani warned Tuesday it was not in the interest of the United States to help create a Palestinian state that would "support terrorism."

In an article in the journal Foreign Affairs, the former New York mayor also said too much emphasis had been placed on Israeli-Palestinian peace talks which he said just brought up the same issues "again and again."

Giuliani renamed the US "war on terror" as "the Terrorists' War on US" in his hawkish article in the September/October issue of the magazine, and predicted a long battle against "radical Islamic fascism."

In the latest of a series of essays in Foreign Affairs by presidential candidates, Giuliani also predicted US troops would still be in Iraq and Afghanistan when the next President takes office in January, 2009.

He argued that the problem for Palestinians since the Islamist movement Hamas won parliamentary elections last year, was not a "lack of statehood" but good governance.

"Too much emphasis has been placed on brokering negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians -- negotiations that bring up the same issues again and again," he wrote.

"It is not in the interests of the United States, at a time when it is being threatened by Islamist terrorists, to assist the creation of another state that will support terrorism," Giuliani wrote.

"Palestinian statehood will have to be earned through sustained good governance, a clear commitment to fighting terrorism, and a willingness to live in peace with Israel." ...

"The Terrorists' War on US was encouraged by unrealistic and inconsistent actions taken in response to terrorist attacks in the past. A realistic peace can only be achieved through strength," Giuliani said, in a thinly veiled attack on former President Bill Clinton's administration.

Any GOP candidate who does not exploit this picture of Hillary embracing Suha Arafat doesn't deserve to be President:

As a Democrat vs Republican issue, what does the picture demonstrate.

Positions will be far more important.

Yep, and Blair was really pushing this “quartet” thing with Russia.

They all know it will never work, but it takes away another rationalization for violence by the Islamic Cults.

The world can see now that Hamas can’t govern either, as they claimed they could, and the Pal people see it now too.

Nice to see Rudy writing about this.

Gee, folks, I know Rudy isn't well-liked here (understatement).... but.... what is he saying that is wrong?

Which of the other candidates [the ones that are electable] are saying as much, so clearly?

Tks for the Ping.

A very good speech. Some may not like him, but when it comes to the “Big Picture”, he sure has his head screwed on the right way.

His condoning of the represented behavior (it isn’t just his one-time stint for comedy) is the problem.

And from a moral standpoint (that may seem awfully lame to some), I just don’t think men should dress as women. Not for gay parades, not for “powder-puff” events, not for a “lifestyle choice”, and not even for comedy.

But that is my own opinion and feelings on the subject. Rudy chose to participate dressed as a woman, and he also has staunch support for the pro-homosexual agenda. Those two together are just more than I care to throw a vote at, and I will call a spade - a spade.

And an addendum to my post moments ago...

Rudy’s cross-dressing, even if for “comedy” has happened several times (not just once).

And I haven’t even gone into the fact that he has been married HOW MANY times? I didn’t know that Roman Catholicism condoned multiple marriages... Then again, the Catholic church also doesn’t condone abortion...another area that Rudy is in conflict with his claimed faith...

Rudy Guiliani Warns Of Palestinian State (Breaks With Bush On Middle East Policy Alert)

Bush broke with sanity on endorsing one in the first place.

In my backhanded sort of way, I was giving Rudy props for that one correct position. I didn’t need any explanation of why the certain new terrorist state created by a Palestinian state would be so wrong.

My comparison was this - outside of the issue of the WOT, I have yet to find more than 25 cents difference between Rudy and Hillary. If Hillary disagrees with Rudy on this, then bump that up to $1.50 difference between them.

This statement by Rudy moved him slightly towards the right on my graph....

Palestinians will not respect a man that dresses in women’s clothes.

Undoubtedly true. And a great reason for Rudy to do it again. Trying to make mass murderers respect you is a fool's game.

Well, this will definitely go over very well.

As to whether he will actually commit to this if he becomes President, I don’t know.

But right now, I don’t really trust any of the candidates to support Israel with anything but empty words.
