Absolute vanity about tattoos.

Posted on 08/28/2007 9:06:17 PM PDT by ozaukeemom

Over the years, I have thought about getting a tattoo. Surprising considering my fear of needles! lol I see them everywhere on every classs of person, I see the artwork vary from onr body to another. What causes someone to decide to have a tattoo. Is it cultural? Is it a fad? I am seriously thinking about it now. Any stories, suggestions? Thank you!

Have you watched Ink on TV? Some of their clients have a tattoo in memory of someone or for some sentimental reason. Others just like them. I don’t but that is just my $.02. I think I saw an ad for a show from LA.

You've gone this long without one don't get one now.

I recommend a laughing skull with glowing red eyes, surrounded by fire.

Either that, or a naked lady.

;-)

If you get something, at least make it something meaningful. I see these guys running around with this so-called “tribal art” and just roll my eyes.

I personally loathe tattoos and wish this trend would just go away. But a lot of people obviously like them, so who am I to judge too quickly?

No, no. Facial tattoos.

Nothing says “I wanna be like prison scum” like a good facial tatt.

The study found that people who had several tattoos, or complex or large tattoos had an increased risk of having hepatitis C and that people with white, yellow, orange or red pigments in their tattoos also were more likely to have hepatitis C than those with only black. These characteristics reflect tattoos acquired in commercial tattoo parlors.

The risk of hepatitis C infection was also higher among patients with a history of injection-drug use, hospital custodial workers, and people who drank beer heavily, but the risk was not increased for those who drank only wine or liquor.

Although hepatitis C can be transmitted by an infected blood transfusion, this route of infection was too rare to show a discernable contribution to the overall infection rate in the population at large.

"Most importantly, we found that commercially acquired tattoos accounted for more than twice as many hepatitis C infections as injection-drug use," Dr. Haley said. "This means that it may have been the largest single contributor to the nationwide epidemic of this form of hepatitis."

In a word?

Don’t.

Nothing I know of lowers my opinion of a woman faster than seeing she has a tattoo. Well, that and any woman who has excess piercings. By excess I mean any more than one hole in each earlobe.

I’m getting my first when I’m 80. I won’t feel it, no one will notice and it won’t droop - much...

A thought....Some people turn out to be allergic to the ink used.....but, just wondering....God gave you a wonderful body....why do you want to take a chance with messing it up? Or do you think your tatoo artist can do better work than God? That said.....think about what it will be like 30 years from now.....it’ll be a FAD you participated in.

The only people I think deserve to have tatoos are those who fight/fought in a war.....they earned it!

Just my Humble Opinions.

Just think how much you want to have something when you're sixty that looks like a bruise or a giant roach crawling on you.

You want to make a fashion statement, do something that is not permanent. Fashion is temporary. So should your expression of it be.

I might also point out that the incidence of hepatitis C is 30% greater in the tattooed population than in the non. Think liver transplant.
