Check Your Faith at the Door

Imagine you own a small business—let’s say a donut shop—and you have an employee who is late for work everyday and is rude to customers. When you fire him, he claims it is really because he is gay—and sues.

Or imagine you run a daycare center in your church basement. One day a homosexual applies for a job. When you turn him down, he says you broke the law.

Today, both of these stories are simply scenarios. But by the end of the week, they could be reality.

Under intense goading from the gay-rights lobby, the House of Representatives is poised to vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, called ENDA. This legislation would add “sexual orientation” to civil rights law. If passed, ENDA would cut deeply into the religious rights and freedoms of all Americans.

For example, an employer with a moral or religious belief opposed to homosexuality or bisexuality would be forced to give up those rights the moment he arrives at his office. No business would be allowed to refuse to hire a homosexual for any reason. Fire a person because of incompetence—he would say it’s because he is gay, or just even perceived to be gay.

That’s right. ENDA would also expand civil rights protections on the basis of a simple perception. Because ENDA includes “real or perceived” discrimination, an employee, or potential employee, could sue an employer for his or her perception of the employee’s sexual orientation. But sexual orientation is not like race, age, or gender; it is behavioral and not empirically verifiable. Can you imagine the license this would give the courts to begin to investigate peoples’ sex lives? It’s astonishing.

If passed, ENDA would place all the power of the federal government in direct opposition to the beliefs of all major faith groups in America regarding the teachings about sexuality. ENDA would also undermine the institution of marriage by pronouncing traditional sexual morality a form of discrimination. This legislation will lead to a flood of lawsuits; employers would inevitably be forced to require marriage-like benefits to homosexual employees.

The bill also includes phony religious protection language that does not exempt all religious schools and universities (even K through 12).

Pro-ENDA lawmakers are being especially disingenuous. Many congressmen are going to the floor to make speeches about the value of faith groups in American life. The idea seems to be to create the appearance of how much they care about religious communities—records they can point to later for cover as they vote for bills like ENDA. It’s astonishing how easily they think Christians can be fooled, isn’t it? Do they still think evangelicals are poor, ignorant, and easy to command, as the Washington Post once said?

The Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual rights group, is having their annual gala (a dinner) this weekend—and congressional leaders want to hand them a big victory. You and I need to get to our telephones immediately, especially if you own a business, and call our members of Congress. We must tell them that we are not fooled by any of this religious protection language, that this bill discriminates against religious business owners, and that we want them to vote against this invasion of religious freedom. If you visit the BreakPoint website, you will find more information about ENDA and how it will cut into the rights of faith communities.

Ping...

This is more than a campaign to take away the rights of Christians...it is perilously close to Orwellian “crime thought”.

Perception of homosexuality is punishable?

The left hates the Church. It’s because the left wants everyone to call the government master, so that they have control. They hate the Church because we already have a better Master, one that they can’t suppress, imprison, or silence. And they can’t stand that.

Churches and pastors are more concerned about losing their tax exempt status than telling the truth to their congregation. Our freedom of speech has been silenced our so called leaders refuse to lead and the death nail for freedom seems to have been inserted for the hammer to strike.

yeah right - your word against a liberal plantiff and liberal judge. I dont think it will matter a hill of beans. Our country has been sold to the highest bidder - world companies are controlling what is going on behind the scenes they own the press, the banks and the politicians.

My co-worker: Comes to work 45-60 late each day over 10 years
Takes a two hour lunch each day over 10 years
Smokes 20 cigarettes a day each day over ten yrs
Goes to get Apple Juice taking 45 min. every day
Leaves 45 min early every day.
Spent 45 min staring at my back one afternoon and resumed said hostility the next morning.
I complained about the behavior. He called me a Racist for noticing him not being in the Dept. The boss decided that it was “harrassment” for me to notice if he leaves the Dept.
Now, I have my State Rep.’s cell phone number prominently displayed in case I am ever treated differently than the “accepted behavior” established by my coworker.

the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, called ENDA.

Am I the only one who thinks that this particular acronym is not the best choice, considering who the beneficiaries of the act will be? I guess it could have been worse--the Bisexual Legislation Opposing Wrongdoing Act.

Officer Baker: You're only firing me because I'm black.

Sheriff: Nope. I only hired you because you're black. I'm firing you because your a lousy cop.

"Carter Country", circa 1977, ABC-TV

Stuff like that wouldn't make it on the air these days, but you can replace "black" with whatever you like. Even "Law & Order" tried playing that card a few years ago. The ADA is fired at the end of the season, and she replies, "it's because I'm gay, right?" when the character hadn't "been gay" for the entire season, so it was obvious that the firing was for incompetence. (Then again "incompetence" defines that entire series -- nay, the entire franchise!)

This anti-heterosexual campaign won’t work. Here’s why:

Accuser (Satan, a name that means “Accuser”): You fired me because I’m a “gay” homosexual.

You: No, I fired you for cause. I’m a homosexual, too.

Satan: What?!?! You’re not gay enough to be homosexual!

You: Incorrect. By your propaganda campaigning, you’ve convinced the public that everyone is at least a little “gay”. Thus, I must be a homosexual, too and I suffer same sex attraction like everyone else. Perhaps the difference between us is that I don’t engage in same sex relations. But, if you push me to this point of having to reject your advances, then it obviously shows that you want to have sex with me for which I must respond with charges of sexual harassment. “No,” means NO. You’re just not my type. I, therefore, must call upon a Real Man, Jesus Christ, to be my Savior and I cast you, Satan, out of my business. (women facing hostility from women can call upon a Real Woman, The Blessed Virgin Mary to cast Satan out of their business).

Facing sinners as a sinner doesn’t mean the other sinner gains advantage over you because of your sins. One must use the Supernatural to overcome supernatural enemies. Reflect the twisted logic of sin back on to sin while praying for your enemies. Attain a Mass Card for the difficult employing (and you don’t have to present it to the employee) before firing for cause. Let the argument be between Satan and Jesus.

“Our country has been sold to the highest bidder...”

That’s wonderful news! Jesus paid for us with His Blood. We have nothing to worry about. Be not afraid.

A freeper-in-exile once wrote these words: Instead of having all these special protected categories, wouldn’t it just be simpler to establish white men and practicing Christians as the only unprotected classes?
