Something rather troubling- the friend calls 911 and is told there’s no unit available to respond. The gas station owner calls and a unit that was on a nearby street responds in under a minute. Hmmm.

You’re relying on the friend (under some stress at the time) to remember and quote the 911 operator accurately, the reporter to quote the friend accurately, and the editor not to mangle the quote to give himself/herself something to justify his/her paycheck. That’s three possible sources of error.

The there should be a tape. The tape should be much more accurate than the drive-by media, for the reasons I just noted.

Before Tillie could fire again, Alexis jumped over the seat between her mother and the gunman and begged him not to shoot her mother.

The police report said Tillie "without hesitation" pumped six shots into the child.

As police arrived, they saw Parker, covered in blood, running from the truck, screaming, "He just shot my baby."

The officers said Tillie came out to the vehicle holding a blue steel 9 mm semi automatic and dropped the weapon when ordered to do so.

I really wish this would of then continued

If the Detroit Police cannot spare a unit to investigate a woman and child held hostage at gunpoint, they are in worse shape than I thought.

Threats have little priority with police departments. It wasn’t until shots were fired and reported that this became a priority call.

Alexis is a very brave little girl. I wish her well with recovery.

Gunmen in Detroit seem to be much better shots than most Police officers. One kid in Detroit fired 8 shots and hit 9 people. A couple of cops in Ohio emptied their weapons at 2 guys who got out of a white Suburban and NONE of the 22 shots fired hit either of the perps OR their Suburban!

I remember reading a story about how 4 NYPD cops burst through a door into a darkened 10x12 bedroom and were confronted by an armed suspect. Something like 24 shots were fired, and nobody got hit.
