Late-Breaking Surge for Thompson
National Review Online ^ | 2 January 2008 | Peter Robinson

Posted on 01/02/2008 3:09:35 PM PST by big'ol_freeper

The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogby’s latest—and I quote: “Sen. Fred Thompson…has seen a late-breaking surge.” (Rich notes the same poll below.)

What’s going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:

Fred is the only [candidate] I don't have major reservations about….I find his lack of "fire in the belly" refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

He's a troll. Just look at his posting history. He's only here to be a disruptor.

Let’s hope the surge works as well as it did in Iraq.

Yeah. I gathered that.

Probably won’t be here for long anyway.

I read it somewhere maybe 2 days ago. It might be just some manufactured ‘quotes’ from Thompson.

Nice try. BZZZZZT. Wrong answer.

Since you're a noob, here's some advice: don't come around here spouting stuff like that unless you can back it up else fellow FReepers will pound you into the ground.

The way it is around here... get used to it or get lost.

Again, cite your source.

Can we put that statement next to your history on FR? That comment was a goal, not a do or die statement. Now run along and go back to where you came.

I am amazed how many ON THIS BOARD are just dancing to the media’s tune

I don't claim to be the brightest bulb in the marque but I could see through the MSN ploy to put down Fred from the start. And it was a really lame ploy. I don't understand how so many smart people can be duped by these idiots.

That’s funny. As of today, he is in the top three and climbing. So I don’t think your second statement will apply in any case.

I see Fred surprising a lot of the talking heads tomorrow. His Iowa campaigning will produce better results than the media projects.

The big disappointments tomorrow will be Huckabee and Giuliani. I would not be surprised if Giuliani is surpassed by Hunter.

Romney will win Iowa....with Huckabee and Thompson close for 2d.....watch for Ron Paul to surpass McCain.

Fred does not wish to govern us but to take government off our backs and out of our pockets.

How about if Fred does not come in second, what does he need to do?? It is OBVIOUS.

I reckon you're coming in last place on this thread. What should we do with you?

Heard part of his interview on Mark Levin today. He is sounding pretty good to me. I will definitely support Fred.

If he does pull top three, good for him. I just don’t think he can pull it off. Not a hard candidate to support, wish he would have campaigned a little harder a month ago. Just my impression.
