The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogby’s latest—and I quote: “Sen. Fred Thompson…has seen a late-breaking surge.” (Rich notes the same poll below.)
What’s going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:
Fred is the only [candidate] I don't have major reservations about….I find his lack of "fire in the belly" refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

I think it’s so cute that those who don’t back him can’t find anything of substance against him, so they just put him down for his looks and his voice patterns. If that’s all you’ve got against him, he’s definitely the right man for the job!

I am sorry ‘Finny’..but as a party, we need to have a serious discussion about who we nominate and why. As far as I am concerned, we should do it with sincere thoughtfulness and without the personal attacks. So far, the folks U are attacking have been thoughtful. It is u who has gone on the personal attack.

I was referring to the ‘establishment’ big money donors to the republican party and thought you were as well. There is no doubt that the establishment liberal press would like a McCain win...that way..they win either way....LOL
Sorry about the oversight. I agree that Duncan Hunter is a true conservative. The drive-by media don't even mention Duncan Hunter at all. Rush has not mentioned Duncan Hunter either that I can remember. I would be very happy with a Thompson/Hunter or Hunter/Thompson ticket in November.
