Dr. Phil's planned sitdown Monday with Britney Spears' parents dissolved into accusations he was exploiting the troubled singer's emotional crackup.
The TV shrink insisted he canceled the taping with Jamie and Lynne Spears "because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family."
A source close to Dr. Phil McGraw said it was Britney's parents who cut him off, furious he blabbed about her mental state after visiting her in the psych ward at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
"As soon as Jamie realized Dr.Phil was making public statements about Britney, including assessments of her condition, he got angry," the source told Life & Style magazine. "He started making phone calls to everybody in the family, telling them not to cooperate."
The show was to air Tuesday.
Britney Spears was held in the hospital overnight after going berserk when ex-hubby Kevin Federline's bodyguards came to pick up her two baby boys. She was said to be stunned by Dr. Phil's visit and many of McGraw's psychiatric colleagues blasted him.
McGraw - now called Dr. Shill by some critics - went on CBS' sister show "Entertainment Tonight" to defend himself.

Dr. Phil helped Oprah during her beef lawsuit in Texas. She had him on as a guest, he hit it off with her audience, and he signed with her production company Harpo for his own show.
I don’t watch Oprah so all I know is she brought him on her show and it morphed into a regular thing until, viole!, she gave him his own show.
Britney’s obviously been a Dr. Phil follower for years - she followed in his footsteps by getting stupid, fat and bald.

lol. The same defense that the press uses day in and day out! This is all a show biz gimmick or it wouldn't be blasted over every tv, radio, print and internet outlet in existence.

Personally, I think that a LOT of this, maybe 2/3 is all an act to keep her fame alive. She was in a psych ward yesterday and out last night. Apparently the people who run the psych ward of one of the country's premier hospitals didn't think that she was in very rocky shape.

I think she will continue sliding into ruin, the good doctor will continue to make lots of money chasing fame and getting fortune.
You know, Dr. Phil, being a doctor and seeing Brittany might be a violation of HIPPA. Since he has been disclosing personal information.
Why are you putting Jack Bauer in the same scenario as the hag girls? Yes he got a DUI but he is being very sorry about it and is taking his jail sentence seriously. I am sorta disappointed that you added him to that list.
