Fox News can't tell one Carolina from another
Fox News (broadcast) | 01/11/08 | Fox News

Just seen on FNN: a blonde newsbabe was covering a rally in Aiken, South Carolina. The bottom-third title was "Edwards makes final push in home state."

Thing is, Edwards' home state is NORTH carolina, not SOUTH Caroilina. They're two, like, totally different states. Seriously. They have separate governments and everything.

It wasn't a momentary glitch. That title stayed up for most of the story.

Would anyone in the MSM put up a font about Giuliani running in his "home state," New Jersey? I don't think so.

Wasn’t he born in one and was a Senator from the other? Don’t know how one would use ‘home state’ on that one.

FNC’s chyron folks are probably the same ones doing the ticker, which now has an e-mail addy. I suspect it’s so folks can e-mail them to let them know about screw-ups.

Edwards is originally from SC. Then he moved up here and squirreled in on our Senate seat :-)

Silky Pony was born in the Upstate of South Carolina, near Seneca if I remember right. Technically, they’re right on this one. Miracles do happen.

It's okay - we don't want him.

Does this blonde babe have an opinion about “The Iraq” (like “what’s her name” from the beauty contest who was asked a question about American kids not being able to find the U.S. on a map)?

It’s ok, Huckabee and “I like mandates” Mitt Romney will fix that.

Laurie Dhue, she’s da babe!

She's hotter than a three-dollar pistol, no doubt; We've had a hot affair since she was back at CNN, only no one's told her yet. But in this case, she was the anchor. The reporter was a whole other newsbabe. Caroline Shively, to be specific.

I love my DVR. I can press record to catch something after I see it. I have it on disk, and I might grab a still or YouTube the clip if there's enough interest.

He grew up in Robins, NC. His father was a plant manager there. Plant managers in the textile industry are equivalent to plantation owners. He was as close to his workers as a plantation owner was to his slaves.

Same way Mitt’s trying to claim Michigan as his home state.

The blonde newsbabe was right. He’s originally from SC.

Ronald Reagan was originally from Illinois. George HW Bush was born in Massachussetts. George W. Bush was born in Connecticut. Mitt Romney was born in Michigan. Ron Paul was born on the third planet in the Altair system.

Birthplace and "home state" are not equivalent. And it is not merely a matter of semantics. The Constitution specifies that the prez and VP cannot hail from the same state. That's why Dick Cheney "moved" from Texas back to Wyoming before joining the 2000 ticket.
