Fred gains!!! But he has to go after McCain on immigration- a lot harder than he did in the last debate.

Huckabee is a liberal who has duped the religious liberal left into believing he is the real conservative, which ironically, neither the Christian left nor Huckabee is.

His greatest strength in income demos comes with his second-place 28% in the $100k+ slot, which Obama wins. Who would have guessed that Edwards would have been so popular with the wealthy, and so unpopular with the poor? Easy. Because the poor recognize Edwards as a phony who isn't going to fulfill his promises.
Meanwhile, wealthy white liberals look to Edwards as a means of assuaging their own guilt and self-loathing.

South Carolina has one of the highest proportion of military retirees in the country, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re heavily backing McCain due to his support of the Iraq war, his Vietnam service, and his stint in the Hanoi Hilton. The only way Fred catches him is if he takes the gloves off and goes after McQueeg’s liberal positions on amnesty and “climate change”.

"Over the past several days, the only real movement in South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary has been a four-point gain for Fred Thompson and a five-point decline for Mike Huckabee."
"The big winner from that trade-off is John McCain."
Fred Thompson, you big ol' conservative saviour, you.

Fred Thompson’s improvement on the stump is being reflected in SC polls.

Hillary Clinton has eaten up half of Barack Obama's previous lead as well, with only eight days to go before the primary.. Here is where Hillary will bury Obama. She'll come out of this with momentum and with 3 weeks will have the nomination all sewed up. Now if Barak doesn't shut up and start acting like a good boy, he'll never get the leftover crumbs in the form of the VP nod.

If Fred’s interview on The Great One’s show is any indication, he’s not going to go after McCain.
Disappointing.

Fred finally cracks through 12% and gets back in the neighboorhood of 20. But his old buddy, McCain, is the true beneficiary. Nothing less than 1st place will do for Fred, and I don’t know how he gets the rest of the way in SC with no more debates, and a seeming unwillingness to go after McCain.

Thompson saved almost all of his ammunition for Mike Huckabee in that debate, but avoided criticizing his friend and mentor, McCain. That strategy may haunt him if he cannot gain more traction against McCain in South Carolina. He needs a strong finish in this state in order to gain credibility for his Super Tuesday run, especially since he's falling off the pace in Florida. Which all of us naysayers pointed out after the debate. Fred has to WIN SC to have even a hint of credibility. You can't base your campaign on your stregth in the south, and then lose South Carolina to John friggin McCain. And then lose FLA?? Just exactly when is Fred expected to win anything??
