Their McCain pile-on would not be so egregious if only the White House -- and the perks of politics -- were at stake. With 165,000 troops serving in Iraq and 26,000 serving in Afghanistan, Republican voters must guard more than their party purity. They have to vote -- and at times hold their tongues -- with an eye on what is most important: Iraq.

As public support for the war has eroded, it has been disheartening to watch Democrats, who once supported the war, drop the ball on Iraq. Now, to watch Republicans bloody McCain, when they should be concentrating on keeping an anti-war Democrat from becoming commander in chief -- well, it makes me wonder how much they want to win.

I’ll vote for the Republican nominee regardless whether I like him or not. Any Republican is better than a Muslim or a Muslim lover democrat.

McCain co-authored a campaign-finance reform bill that enraged far-right (and far-left) advocacy groups.

Advocacy groups and anyone who respects the Constitution.

"I got my issues with McCain, but he is not a phony soldier and he is strong on national security."

Just like myself and a few million others out here. Would you vote for me for POTUS?

How about amnesty? ... McCain/Feingold? ... the MIA's? ... McCain/Kennedy Immigration bill?

McCain

Rush led off his program talking about this article. He also said that he and Debra had email exchanges last night on what she wrote. bttt

Pure nonsense. Not even a hint of clue in this article. This is why this “winning at any price” mentality is so wrong. Do these people forget the Democrats trying to get McCain to flip party’s in Jan 2006? Forget that Dems wanted McCain as their VP candidate in 2004?

How quickly the talking heads forget McCain’s record. From Tax-cuts to the War to Judges McCain’s whole strategy has been to be as Liberal as possible and stay in the GOP. Anti Terrorists? McCain wants to close Gitmo and give terrorists the same legal protection as US Citizens!

Politically there is very little difference between Hillary and McCain. You get minor variations on this and that issue, like abortion, but over all McCain and Clinton share the same political philosophical outlook

McCain has done nothing for the Conservative movement in 8 years. While talking a good game on spending, he has done nothing. He has actively worked against the Conservatives on Social issues, on the WOT, on Iraq, on Gitmo, against Rummy, on Immigration and on Judges, on Global Warming etc etc etc etc etc. McCain has far more in common with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama then he does with Tom Coburn or the Senate GOP.

McCain would be the worse of both worlds. A mislabeled “Conservative” Administration actively advancing the Democrat Party’s agenda while knifing Conservatives in the back daily. You could even count on a McCain Administration appointing Leftist Judges in order to avoid fighting with the Democrats in the US Senate.

McCain would fracture the few remaining GOP Congress critters into pro and anti McCain factions. McCain would be the worst of all world politically for the Conservatives. At least with a Democrat Leftist Administration, as opposed to a McCain Leftist with a GOP Label Administration, the Democrats would get all the political fall out of their disastrous political decisions and the GOP would unite in fighting them.

The worst of all possible worlds for us in 2008 would be McCain getting elected President.

Phoney arguement.

Polling data 11 months before an election is completely irrevelent. Right now most people are simply responding to name recognition. Once the campaign is actually running and people start paying attention these numbers can switch in a heartbeat.

In addition to the fact that McCain has betrayed conservatives more times than we can count, I’m in absolute agreement about the emotional instability. He has mental issues that simply can’t be ignored, but sadly the general public is oblivious to them and just sees him as a well known war hero.

I have the greatest respect for McCain’s service and his sacrifice, but if the McCain express is not derailed soon, the GOP will be in the middle of a very serious problem.

1. Rush said Ross Perot claims McCain covered up looking into allegations that American POWs were left behind in ‘Nam, which McCain denies.

2. An allegation discussed was that McCain left his first wife after she started limping (physical injury?), and left her for current wife Cindy who had “big money”.

3. Rush noted that Perot said he is voting for Mitt Romney, one reason being that Romney is a good family man.

McCain strong on National Defense?

Please explain to me how closing Gitmo and extending to terrorists the same legal rights of US Citizens is being “Strong”?

If anyone but McCain purposed the things McCain has over the last 8 years, people around here would be screaming their heads off about “betrayal”. But because of the Cult of Personality manufactured around McCain, people simply ignore the McCain political record to mindlessly worship him for once wearing a military uniform.

Ideological purity has nothing to do with it. Actually voting for someone who shares at least some of my political values is the issue.

On almost every single issue McCain has been wrong. Why should Conservatives vote for a Liberal Republican? We are going to get virtually the same political agenda as Hillary from McCain. Why should we vote for him? Because he has a R after his name? Sorry Debra, but you are dead wrong on McCain. McCain would be the worse of both worlds. A Liberal Republican who would advance the Leftist agenda. Thus we get the Democrat political agenda advanced by a mislabled "Conservative" McCain for which we take all the political blame for.

If you think he is good on National Security then can I recommend that you go through his votes back to 1991. From what I saw that before 9/11 he voted against the interests of the military often. The list of votes against his party shows that he wanted more base closings. he voted for a Levin amendment ending the B-2 bomber. He voted with the Democrats on military budgets during the 1990’s. His actions is different than words.

Number one problem is that he is a self-proclaimed enemy of the “religious right”. Let the GOP make him their candidate and they will learn a new meaning to the term “obscurity” as the price for turning their backs on us.

Not only that but McQueeg gave serious thought to be Kerry’s running mate. Let’s not forget that.

Thank you, my comment could use some clarification indeed:

I meant the term “Swiftboat bait” to assert that McCain’s service was authentic and at no risk of inviting the kind of damaging criticism that hurt John Kerry. It was not intended to demean or trivialize the Swiftboat vets or their message.

Right. That's why he's received back-to-back F ratings from the Gun Owners of America.

These people must think we’ve been in a coma for the last eight years. McQueeg isn’t strong on anything except petty vendettas and screwing his own party. He’s the single most destructive force in the GOP, bar none.

Don’t be so sure of that. There are people out there (you can easily find them on the web) (I’m not one of them) who hate McCain because they think he abandoned the Vietnam POWs. If he’s the candidate they will raise a tremendous stink.

no risk of inviting the kind of damaging criticism that hurt John Kerry

“McQueeg isn’t strong on anything except petty vendettas and screwing his own party.”

The same worthless POS operatives that tell us to vote for this dipsh*t also believe that getting f****d over by a Republican is FAR better than being f****d over by a democrat but the way I see it is either way, you are being sodomized.
