Ever since it became apparent that the success of The Surge was undeniable the media have been increasingly ignoring Iraq and the Dems have dropped the war as an election issue.
Instead, the Democrats and their partners in crime in the media, have been trying to talk up a Recession to hang round George Bush's neck.
Pelosi and Reid manoevered to get GW's tacit acknowledgement of the "problem" by getting him to meet with them this week.
But then today, up steps George and announces a stimulus package, complete with a stipulation to make his tax cuts permanent, and challenges the Democrats to help make it all happen.
So where are the Democrats now?
If the stimulus package works then the economy issue goes away. The Dems can claim some credit if they participate, but they will have to find other election issues to hammer the Republicans with.
If the Dems refuse to participate, and the economy tanks, they will be viewed as obstructionist and will be saddled with the blame.
If the Dems DO participate, and the economy tanks, they will be joint owner of the problem.
G W Bush, who Dems ridicule as dumb, just outsmarted Reid and Pelosi and took the economy off the table as an election issue..
Don't you just hate it when that happens?
Yep.
The Democrats keep getting outsmarted by the Dumbest Man in America.
[If the Dems refuse to participate, and the economy tanks, they will be viewed as obstructionist and will be saddled with the blame.]
That makes perfect sense to those of us who keep up with the news but to the general population it will be ‘Bush’s fault’.
I hate the $150 billion “stimulous” package, but it’s a price I’d pay if it got the tax cuts made permanent.
It waould at least make Hillary and Obama campaign on a platform of raising taxes.
In the closet, wearing womens underwear, crying about how their dad abused them, and stomping their feet.
My dirty laundry outsmarts Democrats.
Its not idle talk of recession—what is looming is a complete financial meltdown, the ike of which have not been seen since 1929.
An economic crash is possible, but unemployment would have to spike up above 8%, liquidity in the Secondary markets would have to dry up, and the Dems would have to stop all stimulous efforts (e.g. Fed lowering rates, repurchase agreements, tax cuts, tax rebates, etc.).
With low unemployment and high Productivity, an economy this large takes concentrated effort to derail even after a housing crash and sub-prime meltdown.
Reagan gave the needle to the Democrats in every speech. He was cool, calm, and made it clear the facts were on his side. It's a strategy that worked much better than W's "new tone in Washington."
What we have here is a failure to communicate.
President Bush has outfoxed the Dems again. It’s brilliant absolutely brilliant. He is cagey and cunning. He is so much brighter than all of the Dems combined.
The only thing President Bush has failed at is communicating to the American people. Or does he just like to keep his plans secret until it’s time to spring them on the Dems. The msm have buried us with an avalanche of lies and tales of woe. Doom Despair and Agony on me. Deep Dark Depression Excessive Misery.
With all of the success Bush has had with such a low IQ and a cowboy mentality. Maybe we should elect a Slow Talking, Lazy, Unmotivated, No Fire in the Belly, Tennessee Hillbilly this time around.
GO FRED GO!
Since 2000 our economy has absorbed 9/11, Iraq, Katrina, and now the immigration/mortgage problem (they’re related).
We’re still not in a recession (yet).
I’m actually impressed.
I keep asking my liberal friends why it is that if GW Bush is a “Stupid Chimp”, then why is it the “Smartest Democrats Ever” always end up covered in Monkey Poo???
Since 2000 our economy has absorbed the Dot Com crash, the NASDAQ crash, the Enron/Authur Andersen accounting scandal, 9/11, Katrina/Rita, the Housing crash, the sub-prime crash, $100/barrel oil, the California energy crisis, massive product dumping by China, and the costs of two major wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Wishful thinking.
He will only EXPAND the size of government, make more programs, increase earmarks, spending and the debt.
Bush spends MORE than all Gore’s campaign promises!
They should know better by now not to play poker with this Texan = He knows when to hold ‘em, when to fold em, and when to lay ‘em down -
Reid's gonna demand another pajama party
