A thank you from me as well.
And you haters: Give it up. Your posts are being deleted, so take your hate and bile somewhere else. DU, or Kos, perhaps.
We Mods wish to extend our sympathies to all LDS FReepers.
Wrong time and place for it, OK?
Stay off this thread.
Respect for the family means not hammering home your version of eschatology.
I ask you to respect the family and stop.
Or be exposed as a false Christian, gloating over being right, over doing the right thing.

Your kind thoughts are appreciated. I’ve been watching the local news coverage. While everyone agreed he will be missed, mostly there is happiness at knowing he is with his wife, who died in 2002. He has missed her so much, and has said several times in recent years that he looks forward to joining her, although he wasn’t morose about it, and he kept up a full schedule until the end. He lived a long life, and a good life. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He often spoke of his ancestors who sacrificed so much for our churchl. I imagine he is having a joyful reunion. I guess what I’m trying to say is that this is not such a sad occasion.
I’m not a Mormon. I will never be a Mormon. However, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised were I to meet Mr Hinckley one day on that beautiful shore and be able to say to him “What was up with that extra-biblical nonsense?”. My thoughts and prayers are with Mr Hinckley’s family and with the Mormon community as a whole.
I’m not LDS but I’d like to add that this is not just a loss for the Mormons, this is a loss for America and the world.
Catz are most likely to get to me before anybody finds my body. ;)
Lucky guy. Good to die, honest and sincere with with family around. Daddy did that.
Catz are def going to eat me before humans get to me....

(Sorry, I don't know how to make it a one click deal -- but at least you have a link.)
fair enough
I hope that’s not true — about the cats, I mean.
I’ll follow your wishes - but would respectfully point out that none of my posts were deleted - and had they been, I would have ceased in response. Jumping right to exclusion from the thread seems abrupt imo
He was a great man and a man of God. He was the right man at the right time for the LDS church and for the world. He will be missed, but always loved, by those of the LDS Church. He preached love, tolerance and acceptance of all God’s children without compromising God’s commands.
I am deeply sadden at his passing, but know he is alive in the hereafter reunited with his wife, his family, and his and our God.
Moderator, thank you for preserving the reverence the rest of us wish to maintain in paying our respects to a man of God and Prophet of our church and mourning his passing.
G-d bless his family and everyone affected by him. He sounds like a truly amazing man. RIP.
I'll be taken care of, regardless.
