Hello Saundra. It is a sad time but, as you said, he “finished the race” and his life was truly one of service and love. Not everyone leaves a legacy, and it’s a rare man that leaves such an admirable legacy as President Hinkley has. He will be missed but his legacy lives on and will help others with their lives.
He made me laugh; he made me cry; he made me love; he made me want to serve. He was a wonderful man and he was my friend. He taught us to love Jesus Christ more, to love Heavenly Father more, to love the Holy Spirit more. He was a good example. He was a good man, husband and father. I loved him even though I never personally met him. I felt the presence of the Holy Ghost when he spoke. He has gone to be with our Heavenly Father and the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. Good night, Sweet Prince.
Amen, some people have absolutely no taste or decorum. I see it every day on any given Romney thread here on FR. But you’d think some would have enough class to at least keep their mouths shut and keep their hatred to themselves when someone beloved by many here has died. I guess not.
You people posting the bile on here: One day you will answer to God for your behavior.
And thanks to the Admin Moderator for keeping this thread civil.
And I was also watching my ping notices and no one ever answered me from my post #11. Hope we find out.
Thank you for post #63. It means a lot to me. Thank you again. It helps.
See #33
That’s an error. The original article says “nearly 13 years”. Don’t know why it came out wrong when the OP posted the article. I guess it went the same place as the paragraph formatting!
google it - youre not going to get me banned for going off topic
It will be Monson, if I remember my succession correctly. Bro. Monson is the senior member of the twelve, so he is next in line.
Doesn’t matter to me though, they’re both fine and honorable men.
Sympathies to all LDS FReepers, and thanks to the -majority- of others who have shown some class.
For if he was truly a prophet, you would be doing a dis-service to God, and if he was not, then you would be doing a dis-service to the family.
That man that died, was very important to my God. As are all men.
Haughty men don't come to God. Penitent men may.
All my love.

Thanks for replying about that. I thought it was another one of those inscrutable secret things.
Thanks - I just found the answer as I was reading further on the thread. Appreciate it.
Thanks - found it!
“He built alliances with other Christian denominations to oppose same-sex marriages and defend religious liberties. In 1998, Hinckley announced a “Proclamation on the Family,” which laid out the church’s support for the sanctity of marriage, the significance of family and the importance of chastity.
“That became the theological foundation for the church’s opposition to any effort to promote same-sex marriage. In 2000, the LDS Church defended the Boy Scouts’ right to exclude gays from leadership positions, and the church and its members in Alaska and Hawaii gave time and well over $1 million to thwart same-sex marriage initiatives; in 1999, members in California helped finance the push for a Protection of Marriage Act on that state’s ballot.
“’What’s a church for if it isn’t to fight for values, to take a stand and face up to these moral issues?’ Hinckley said in a February 2000 interview with The Salt Lake Tribune.”
Thank you, President Hinckley.
Paragraphs are our friends.
I can’t thank you enough for pulling the mean spirited posts. It was heartwrenching to read some of their comments at a time like this. Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. We LDS Freepers are really hurting right now.
