Debbie Lee, Gold Star Mom - An Open Letter to the Mayor Of Berkeley

In response to the resolutions passed by the Berkeley City Council, and the outrageous arrogance of the Mayor of Berkeley in pompously offering to “help” the Marine Recruiters get out of their lease, Debbie Lee has written a letter addressed to Mayor Tom Bates, demanding an apology.

Move America Forward will head to Berkeley on February 12th to demand an apology from the City Council in person, and also to rally with other patriots from the bay area to show the City Council just how displeased all freedom-loving Americans are with their attempts at censorship of the Military, and their outright support for anti-American organizations that openly SUPPORT TERROR.

Now, here is Debbie Lee’s open letter to Mayor Tom Bates:

February 3, 2008

Mr. Tom Bates,

I was appalled at the decisions that your City Council made at your last meeting, telling the Marines they were not welcome in your city and then granting Code Pink a parking place in front of the Recruiting office free for six months along with a free noise permit. I called and left a message last week for you to call me, a Gold Star Mother whose son gave the ultimate sacrifice. It doesn’t surprise me that you didn’t return that phone call. Trust me I won’t just go away!

My son Marc Alan Lee laid down his life 8-2-06 for American’s to have all of the freedoms that we enjoy. He voluntarily went to his recruiter to find out what opportunities would be provided to him and what would be required for him to be a Navy SEAL. He was treated professionally and never once regretted his decision to become a Navy SEAL. He was honored to serve his country. He was stationed in California along with half of the SEAL community. I’m sure you’ve heard of the elite of the elite, as President Bush calls them.

Marc’s was very pleased with his recruiter, and he was never lied to, tricked or deceived. His recruiter played the role of counselor or coach to Marc and helped him get the right schools, to be fit and prepared, and to understand what was ahead. Marc pursued his recruiter. Marc had a dream and a goal and he pursued the recruiter who showed him how to make his dream a reality!

My oldest son Kristofer went to a Marine recruiter’s office in July 2000 and signed to be one of “The few, the Proud, The Marines.” He also never regretted his choice and was also treated professionally and was proud to serve his country for 5 years. My son-in-law Christopher also visited an Army recruiter and proudly served his country for 3 years.

I wish that you served as a Mayor with the same pride and love for this country and those men and women who would defend you unconditionally! Our military defends your freedoms and has written a blank check to you and your city and every American and they have told you to fill in the cost of that freedom up to and including the cost of their lives and you are telling these people they are not welcome in your city? How dare you!

I’m sure you continue to enjoy those freedoms that every man or woman who has served in our military has fought for you. Who do you think would defend you if the terrorists attacked your city? Who do you think would come if an earthquake devastated your city? Who do you think would come if there were riots in your city? How dare you try to legislate and change the laws of the land. I am demanding that you publicly apologize to the Marines and to our troops, and to their families and that you resend the legislation that you passed last week giving special rights to Code Pink.

Demanding Respect for our Troops,

Debbie Lee
Proud Mother of Marc Alan Lee

Debbie Lee has traveled across the country several times with Move America Forward to support the troops and traveled to Iraq last Christmas.

She spent time there delivering some of the over 140,000 Christmas cards MAF collected on thier last trip.

She and others were able to hand deliver cards to individual Troops and they appreciated so much knowing that most of America supports them and their mission.

The petition

We, the undersigned condemn the Berkeley City Council’s treasonous attack on US Marine Recruiters stationed in their city. We ask that Congress cut off funds from any and all municipal entity within the confines of the city of Berkeley, California, until such time as the city council withdraws it’s action.

The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and “if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests.”

The measure passed last week by a vote of 8-1.

The council also voted to explore enforcing a city anti-discrimination law, focusing on the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give the Marxist protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.

I have posted these videos on the other Berkely threads. It is a recruting commercial put out by the Marine Corps. The first link is to the commmercial. The other links are to videos of the locations where the film was made. They have interviews with the Marines and with the Americans who love and respect them. Take some time and watch a few and don't blame me if you feel good!

I wish somebody would have the cahones to try this sorta thing in my hometown. When young Airman are close to graduating from Basic Military Training they issue hometown releases in which the Air Force sends a congratulatory article to the Airmans local newspaper the week after graduation. By the time I got to my tech school in California, I had all sorts of cards and letters of appreciation, most from people I’ve never met in my life. I dare these liberal p*ssies to come to Columbus, MS and try that stunt. Welcome back good ol’ southern lynching.

Very nice letter, Debbie. However, I wish you had a proof-reader who knows the difference between “resend” and “rescind”.

Bless this lady.
Bad thing is, even if they apologize now (and they should) the apology will be hollow. They still did what they did, and it was more than just one of them. Damn traitors, what kind of message does this kind of crap send our enemies? We ought to deport them over there so the muzzies can saw around on thier necks with those rusty dull knives...........
