Yes, you’re right. Can’t believe I nudged out McGovern in ‘72.

Someone did this You Tube video with the Rush parody Obama ad as the soundtrack. It’s hilarious!

I wonder how many people in America can name McGovern’s two running mates? The first one had to withdraw his name after a mental problem surfaced in his past. His replacement was a Kennedy brother-in-law who once ran the Peace Corps. See how I’m revealing my age here??

I’m tempted to say McCarthy on the first one, but that doesn’t seem quite right. The second was Shriver. (sp?)

McCarthy ran for President in 1968, losing to Hubert Humphrey, who went on to lose to Nixon.

McGovern’s original running mate was Sen. Thomas Eagleton of MO.

Yes, Sergeant Shriver, husband of Eunice Kennedy, was his replacement.

What a forgettable bunch.

McGovern was infamous for his plan to give everyone in America a thousand dollars from the Gubmint. And it wasn’t because of a recession...it was merely an income redistribution scheme of monumental stupidity.

Then, when Eagleton’s past treatment for depression with electric shocks was revealed, McGovern first stood by him and declared that he was backing his VP pick “one thousand percent”. Within days Eagleton withdrew, and they tried to spin it that it was HIS idea not McGovern’s.

Without looking it up, I never would have recalled Eagleton. Shriver is Schwarzenegger’s father-in-law. Thanks for the quiz.

My pleasure.

It’s fun to recall this stuff mostly because that bunch went down in flames. It would have been unthinkable in this country if they had won.

However, with Nixon we got Watergate and policies that were too “moderate”...

So all was not well in the long run...

Oh Jeez, this Hitler is reincarnitated. Remember the Hitler "youth" supporters? History is repeating itself. Listen to Michelle - what a demigod!

I trully believe there is an evil (Soros) trying to destroy our country,

Once in a lifetime someone comes along that can mesmerize people with his personality and empty rhetoric filled with inspirational nationalism.

Krauthammer is vastly overrated. Watching his performances on the Fox All-Stars is painful.

His pontification is brilliant thinking. He says things is a way others do not. Perhaps you should look at the substance instead of the style.

“People can’t seriously think they should turn the country over to someone so inexperienced?”

Obama has as much political experience as Lincoln did. And like Lincoln, Obama sees the same hope for a change for a new unity where ALL men are treated equally, where hope and change is available to all where unity and hope goes into the future of change on golden wings of butterfies..... (At least that is what is probably on his website).

What you perceive of as “brilliant thinking” I see as unoriginal Beltway thinking. To each their own.

Giggle.

He doesn’t even treat himself equally. Atleast, the white half of him.
