Cult of Obama Will Turn Off Independents

[snip]

And at that time, the news media were still lavishing love on Obama. That situation is about to end. "He's the fashion plate of the moment," an editorial page editor remarked, "but fashion week is over."

Sophisticated commentary now notes the growing creepiness of the Obama campaign: Its aversion to substantive policy discussions. The sermonizing -- "In the face of despair, we believe there can be hope." And the messianic bit -- "At this moment in the election there is something happening in America." (That would be he.)

Volunteer trainees at Camp Obama are told not to talk issues with voters, but to offer personal testimony about how they "came" to Obama. Makes the skin crawl.

Centrists generally do not find cults of personality entertaining. The mass hypnosis reminds them of the mortgage frenzy -- all these people buying into a dream and not caring about the fine print.

The Republican Party, meanwhile, has given them a choice. This is despite the best efforts of its right wing to pick a candidate against whom any Democrat would be better. And the more the radicals beat up on the Arizona senator, the more he looks like a contender to moderate Democrats.

But the more I see of her, the more I see the anger inside of her and the more she says stuff that turns people off. I defiantly think she will be a negative in Obama’s campaign.

The rats realize this and they will bury her deep, keep her out of sight.

Obama knows how to twist the law, great, give him a medal.

The last thing liberty needs is another law “expert” in Washington DC.

Sorry, a business owner, military officer or a State Governor is more qualified than this egghead to serve as Commander in Chief.

I will give credit to Obama, he does meet the Constitutional requirements to be President.

And to say Obama is “the most qualified in your life time”? Please, Reagan’s finger nails that were clipped/chewed off during 1976 had more executive experience than Obama. I would take those crusty old fingernails of Reagan's to a idealist hell bent on micro managing my life because "he knows how to manipulate the law".

Well they keep her in the same room as Obama's grandmother. ;)

I heard Dick Morris last night saying that what makes a great President is the ability to speak.

Forget about good judgment, policy, and respect for rights.

He used Abraham Lincoln as an example. I am not sure that Lincoln was that great of an orator. He was pretty good at writing speeches, but from what I’ve read, the delivery left something to be desired.

He also used Roosevelt as an example. Roosevelt did make some memorable speeches, but then his policies kept the Depression going for 9 years, and it was the War that finally brought it to an end.

Really? Before he was a US Senator, he was a “community organizer”. How is that a qualification for the Presidency?

(Reagan) loved America and saw only the best in her. Obama's using the same rhetoric ..

Ironically, Obama sees the WORST in America.

Obama has been claiming America is broken (read racist) and greedy, and imperialistic .... which ironically is what many youngsters (and Democrats) have been brainwashed to believe by public schools, university, MTV, and much of the liberal media.

Obama is the ANTI-REagan, actually.

I said Obama is the most qualified "Rat candidate" in my lifetime. It doesn't take much to be the most qualified "Rat candidate".

Do a little research and you'll see that he has been much more than a community organizer.

I guess my point is that we would be making a big mistake to dismiss Obama as a weak or weird candidate. He's not. If he gets the Democratic nomination, he's going to be a much stronger candidate than the comments on this thread would lead one to believe.

I wish my resume was as impressive as Barack's.

Given the strong anti-GOP sentiment that seems to have permeated the public, I think Obama would have a very good chance to defeat McCain.

Agreed.

It might make us feel better to dismiss him thus, but that won't actually help us in the general election.

Only by taking him and his message very, very seriously do we have some hope in November.

I do not regard him as a weak candidate. His socialist ideology makes him a threat to individual liberty (and since it requires ignoring the 5th and 14th Amendments, unfit for the office). Obviously a large portion of the American people do not recognize this threat or care, addicted as they are to welfare of one form or another, which makes them a threat to our liberty as well. I’ll do what I can to protect my assets from both Obama and the American people.

Sorry about that, did not see the “democrat” in there.

But (I must take a shower after I say this) even the Sink Emperor, Carter, LBJ (Not sure of your age), Truman were vastly more qualified when they ran than Obama is.
