The Ghost Of 537
Vanity | 3/7/08 | Torchthemummy

On Wikipedia's site in regards to the Florida legislatures overwhelming decision to buck the DNC and go with their own front-loading primary date, I noticed an amazing coincidence:

The Florida legislature voted via House Bill 537 to move forward the date of their state's primary to January 29th, causing a chain reaction which moved many other states’ primaries and caucuses to much earlier dates. The vote passed with bipartisan support 118 to 0 in the House, 37 to 2 in the Senate.

Now many of you may recall that after the tussle between the Florida Supreme Court and the US Supreme Court the final difference in votes, as certified by Katherine Harris, was...537! In fact I believe many newspapers the day after the certification had big headlines with either "537" by itself or as part of the headline. Newsweek had a huge "537" on the cover.

That is the very House Bill that some Dems now claim will disenfranchise Florida voters because of the DNC's sanction for moving up their primary date has the same numerical designation as the eventual vote difference in Florida 2000.

Of course the Dems don't have much to hang their hat on if they are going to claim the Republican-controlled legislature is at fault. Since out of the entire legislature voting on House Bill 537 only 2 out of 157 voted against moving up the primary date there is really no conspiracy that can be claimed.

So if, in the end, the absence of Florida's 185 delegates is seen as the difference the DNC and Democrats will look back at House Bill 537 as the deciding factor...a ghost of Florida 2000.

Ah USED to be over 6 feet tall. Ah am NOW under 5 feet tall. Ah was shrunk exactly EXACTLY 537 millimeters. And 537 is the exact number of our brothers who were BROUGHT to this country by the MAN on the FIRST slave ship to this HEBREW controlled nation in 1603. Or maybe it was 16010. I don't know. But AH do know that I WAS over 6 feet tall AND now Ah am under 5 feet tall!!

And this occurred EXACTLY 537 days into the illegal Bush presidency.

I heard Hillary! blame the Florida Republican legislature a couple of days ago. Oh, yeah, the Dems are never accountable for their actions.

...and 537 cycles a second is the frequency of a perfect A tone on the musical scale, which means we should all A-tone for our sins against our brothers...

(actually, I am ripping this off directly from Screwy Louis)

Well, Democrat lawyers for Algore threw out military absentee votes in Florida in court in 2000, so it would be more than 537. PLUS, they called Florida before the polls closed, sending an estimated 10,000 GOP voters in the panhandle early.
