Oil Drilling America
Human Events ^ | 4-11-08 | Deroy Murdock

Posted on 04/11/2008 1:32:43 PM PDT by kingattax

How much more pain must Americans endure before our masters in Washington let oil companies punch a few holes in the Alaskan tundra? Must we shiver pennilessly in the dark before we may extract new domestic petroleum deposits? Or shall we simply keep buying $111 barrels of oil from people who want us dead?

In case Congress missed the news, three U.S. airlines went broke last week. Aloha, ATA, and Skybus blamed unaffordable fuel as they grounded their jets. Aloha said sayonara to 1,900 employees, NBC News reports. ATA’s demise destroyed 2,200 jobs, while Skybus sacked 450 workers, atop the 80,000 positions lost across the economy as unemployment spiked from 4.8 percent in February to 5.1 in March.

Losing these airlines likely will boost plane-ticket prices, which already have climbed alongside fuel bills. Since April 4, 2007, a gallon of jet fuel has risen 62 percent to $3.22. The International Air Transport Association calculates that jet fuel will cost airlines worldwide an extra $56 billion in 2008 versus 2007. Having ditched complimentary meals, movies, and even pillows on many flights, there is little left for embattled carriers to curtail, as their chief expense goes sky high. What’s next? Bring your own seat belt?

No oil, no natural gas, no coal or wood burning, no nuke, only wind and sun power. We do not need the so called fossil fuels to power our world. The enviros know best. Kennedy, Kerry, Obama, Hillary, they know what is best for us. Big Brother USA Nanny Nation knows what is best for all we stupids of AmerryRIca. We are unable and have no abilities to think. So, just carry on. Nothing to see here. Nothing to hear. Mama Nanny will care for us all. Obama and Hillary will save us. They will give us 25 cent per gallon gas again just as soon as they are elected. Then socialized medicine, naturalize all the oil companies and medical and insurance companies. No prob. We will be fine. /sarcasm still on.

How many animal habitats would be destroyed by the solar panels neccessary to give electricity to a major city?

And the article forgot to mention how much we are paying for food. My food bill for a family of 7 has gone from $150 a week to $220 a week. That is a HUGE increase.

.....and there is no one in congress who will be held acountable for all of this.

All congress-people should get down on their knees and thank God that they live in the U.S. where we do not make them pay dearly for what they do.

....it seems that "punishing" them at the ballot box is a pitifully small price for them to pay.....

All these years squandered and resources sit by idly to this day ,, waiting to be tapped and used by a nation that continues to be held hostage to “market forces”.

It makes you wonder how much monies flow, from those who gladly sell us the oil , etc, into our politicos and envirowacko groups coffers? One need only ask who has stood in our way to offshore drilling and anwr being opened years ago.

Or is that an unfair question to ask?

When they are dead and gone(those you named) history will treat this them as the fools that they are.

In the meantime, USA and the world are gong to suffer for this foolishness.

The socialist dictators in the US Congress, yes I think they’ve become dictators who have invaded every facet of our lives and have set out to destroy our futures, will continue their oppression until the American people say no more at the voting booth. Sound harsh, I don’t think so. It’s a very ugly and sinister reality.

How much do you think the price of oil would go down in 1 day if the Congress announced they were going to consider drilling in ANWR?

“This whole situation has been nothing more than manipulation around greed,” Rep. Joe Larson (D-Conn.)

I guess they don't teach "supply & demand" in Connecticut schools. LMAO

A very good piece by Deroy Murdock!

If they could, our ancestors would come back and slap us around for letting things get this far out of hand. They would be thoroughly disgusted.

It’s pretty simple. When people can no longer afford gasoline and when rolling blackouts hit, the public will rise up, beat the crap out of the hippies, and start drilling. We’re not there yet.

that's what the democraps want...more unemployed people sucking on the government tit in order for them to justify taking more of our money.

I love it the way they say they "work" for us.... bullsh#t.

Or even better was jay Rockefeller telling Gen. Patreus that "we" are stressed out" about the war.

What a joke. Stressed out is the point man on patrol. The number two man in the doorway... the guys and gals riding shotgun in a convoy....while this putz yaks about "being stressed out" about the war.

It doesn't matter cause "no middle name" Obama, "her cankleness" Clinton and the rocket scientist/rino McCain all want to "preserve" the pristine wilderness of the tundra. Meanwhile the people up north freeze their tails off , the productive members of society have to pay more to drive to work in order to pay taxes...and they ride around on jets we pay for.

screw em all.

here are our three candidates for POTUS

2006 Crude Oil Imports From Persian Gulf Highlights:
Released on August 28, 2006

It should be noted that several factors influence the source of a company’s crude oil imports. For example, a company like Motiva, which is partly owned by Saudi Refining Inc., would be expected to import a large percentage from the Persian Gulf, while Citgo Petroleum Corporation, which is owned by the Venezuelan state oil company, would not be expected to import a large percentage from the Persian Gulf, since most of their imports likely come from Venezuela. In addition, other factors that influence a specific company’s sources of crude oil imports would include the characteristics of various crude oils as well as a company’s economic needs. While, in general, crude oil is fungible, i.e., one crude oil can be substituted for another, many refineries are optimized by refining crude oil with specific qualities (e.g., the API gravity, the amount of sulfur in the crude oil, etc.). Also, depending on the global crude oil market condition at the time, the price difference between heavy and light crude oils varies, thus changing the economic dynamics for different refineries. Therefore, many factors determine the source of a company’s crude oil imports.
http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/summary2006.html

The link also provides what percentage of crude that oil companies import from the Persian Gulf. Just thought you might like to know some facts since you continually wear us all out with that same, lame cartoon. Of course, I wouldn’t want the truth to get in the way of Scott Adams’ uninformed cartoon.
