Mom says good riddance. Troublesome teenager is the teacher’s problem now...and then the authorities wreck everything.

Interesting. I wonder what other occupations are restricted.

In Texas any sexual relationship between a teacher and a student at the same school is a second-degree felony.

"I'm going to go visit mah Fifth Grade teacher, Miss Wilkins, at the Women's Prison. We had sex last October and she got 20 years in the slammer for it."

Let me get this straight. In Texas, it’s legal for a 27 year old to marry a 17 year old, if the 17 year old’s parents give consent, but it’s a felony (punishable by up to 20 years in prison), if the 27 year old is a school teacher?

I’d say the laws in Texas need a little reconciling.

Why would anybody allow their child to attend a public school?

even though her parents gave consent.

This makes it seem a lot less of a crime to me.

And still they got it wrong. The girl was not "underage" (17 in Texas)

The issue is the teacher-student relationship.
